HiJack Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 Seriously, does Americans go to airshows to listen to Rock music? Or is this dude who films just unlucky? If this had been on an airshow I was on I just would have left as the speaker have completely missed the point. Judge for yourself...

You can bet that while they arent listening to it, those pilots like their music too while they have their “Hair on fire”. Give up and just leave a great demonstration because of music, seriously? A serious lol! txmtb Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 (edited) Most airshows I've been to have music playing during routines, even in Germany when I was stationed there. Fast paced music for the fast movers. Here's The Thunderbirds from 2015, you can hear it in the background, just not a direct feed like the Blue Angels video has. Lucas_From_Hell Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 The music feels over the top. You have half a dozen very loud supersonic fighters doing aerobatics together, any epic music when put next to that feels like owning a fridge in the North Pole. Anything that doesn't add to the show is a distraction, personally. For comparison, this is what I feel is the absolute finest use of music during an airshow. It creates such an intense and remarkable moment!

If this had been on an airshow I was on I just would have left as the speaker have completely missed the point. Judge for yourself... Blue Angels are there for a promotional purpose for the US Navy/US Marine Corps, therefore if it is deemed that more people will have a higher interest if they have rock music playing, they are going to do it (as they have). Just like for any taxpayer aircraft display at an airshow, it is there for a reason. As others have said if you are going to leave just because of some music, suit yourself another spot for me! But having been to a couple Thunderbird & Blue Angel shows the music really isn't obnoxiously loud, you will still have your ears ringing throughout the performance.
SkateZilla Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 a majority of the time at the actual airshow you wont be hear the music clearly anyway. Wittman/Wittman51 records MANY MANY videos a year, But he's literally sitting in front of a one of the many speakers, there's little to no reverb or echoing. The #3 Crew chief is lucky he didnt get a face full of LAU-7 , He was WAY off the line. MiG21bisFishbedL Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 It's usually pretty easy to ignore music. It's even easier to ignore the music when 12 turbofans are involved. Reformers hate him! This one weird trick found by a bush pilot will make gunfighter obsessed old farts angry at your multi-role carrier deck line up!

eliterizzo Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 If you need music (they use more than just rock music, rap and country too)... to enjoy an airshow, then maybe an airshow isn't for you. I long for the early 90's Blue angel airshows at Miramar when I was a kid, when there was no music and just jet noise. It was amazing. Now everything is drowned out by loud obnoxious crap music. Whenever I go to an airshow now, I make sure Im as far away as possible from the speakers.
