Looking and sounding very sweet!

I will certainly be in line to order one whenever that time does come.

In for sure! But isn’t that FOV quite a bit less than what the 8K is promising? Makes me wonder how the two will compare and if that extra FOV will provide other trade offs and how things will balance out.

Yeeeees. It's going foward! I'm still am anxious, that the whole VR thing is going the path of the 3D-TV, when the industry doesn't get enough invest returned. Juuuust a little clearer image would be all I need. So, say 8k with 150 to max 200 degrees and I'm happy. This focal point adjustment is a really cool thing, but a rift 2 with some better resolution would do it for me.

I would say it is a nice improvement in FOV over CV1 whilst still hopefully allowing good performance with reasonable rigs.

Agreed, and if the Rift team is only targeting this FOV it makes me wonder if the Pimax is going to end up falling flat because they overextended a bit. Guess we will know soon enough, at least on the Pimax front.

LOL @ all the CV1 owners! This version looks so much better than the original.

Pimax 8k still seems like the best though.

But why are you laughing at cv1 owners? I have a cv1 and when the new version comes out I will just go buy that too? So what is funny about that?

Yeah no kidding, I got my Rift CV1 in Jan of 2017 and have more hours logged into it than I care to even try to think about. Use it almost daily ever since. Have not gamed on monitor since.

Besides, without all us CV1 owners we wouldn't even be talking about CV2...

I have a CV1 too, and I'll be buying the better one when its released as well. He may be laughing because he's waiting for things to be perfect, which may never happen. In the mean time, us CV1 guys are happily flying in VR, and he isn't. THAT'S funny! :megalol:

Can't wait to see this thing released! I'll probably pay too much for it because I had to have it on release day, but I think a lot of us here will do the same thing. Also funny, and a little sad that we'll pay too much. But we're enthusiasts, its what we do! :D

Yep, I will be right there with you on that.

I am pretty much hanging my hat on Oculus , and I don't think they will disappoint.

Not really sureI understand the LOL, It's a pretty epic experience already, my daughter loves doing rollercoaster rides, and DCS and Elite Dangerous are simply amazing, going back to a flat monitor, even something that's 55" plus, is just... Disappointing.

People keep going on about FOV - do you folk actually know many degrees FOV you get withy a typical monitor (say, ~30" at about 3 feet? It's less than a CV1...

Before everyone gets too excited, Nate Mitchel ( Oculus Co-founder & Head of Rift) popped by a thread on reddit to help manage expectations.

Maria covered a bunch of areas of long term research for us. This is just a peek into some feature prototypes we’ve been working on. However, don’t expect to see all of these technologies in a product anytime soon.

No you should wait for the 3rd gen. Then you can laugh at all the 2nd gen owners. The idiots, right?

Have you no concept of opportunity cost? I mean the fact the people are enjoying it, and have been enjoying it? That counts for nothing?

ahhhh, what's the point. You have a stock "wait for the next gen" no matter what the questions.

I think having to remember to recharge it would be more of a bother. I don't mind the cord so much. Since I'm just sitting, it's not a huge obstacle for me. I get that cordless would be easier. Maybe if it had induction charging. Then you're guaranteed to have it charged.

No, the only idiots are the ones who buy first gen hardware to play beta software with currently horrible optimization, with the inability to read fine detail in cockpit or identify aircraft at distance, staring through artifactual lenses and cheese grater tunnel vision.

But muh "immersion"!

Enjoy spending a few hundred more dollars on the next gen, guys! Best of luck in selling your old hardware for more money than you paid for your depreciating "investment". Opportunity cost?? You could have saved the money to buy better hardware and you could have waited for maturation of the DCS engine.

I feel especially bad for all the people you duped in this forum to buy first gen hardware right before next gen is coming out.

The fov of Oculus is definitely less than sitting up close to a large 4k monitor, 40+ inches.

By design, the Oculus has very very narrow fov. Very unrealistic compared to ultrawide.

To me you sound like someone that is all upset because they couldn't get there hardware to run oculus or perhaps you have never owned one. Either way all you seemed to do is have the same old answer. Wait for next gen whether you are talking about cpu, gpu, or vr. Get a grip man. If everyone waits then there would be no next gen.., jezzzz
