ChubbyTheBear4 Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 Is it possible to update to the 2.5 open beta from the 2.5 stable branch without having to re-install completely? If so, how? Thanks
The Integrator Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 Is it possible to update to the 2.5 open beta from the 2.5 stable branch without having to re-install completely? If so, how? Thanks There are a couple of ways but the easiest is SkateZilla's utility: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=160053 Also see here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3488954#post3488954 1 Eagerly anticipating DCS: Space Shuttle
Wizard1393 Posted May 24, 2018 Posted May 24, 2018 Or, if you know how to use a command prompt: Start a command prompt. Navigate to DCS install directory and then into the folder "bin". Run command "DCS_updater.exe update @openbeta". Finished! 1 GPU: PALIT NVIDIA RTX 3080 10GB | CPU: Intel Core i7-9700K @ 4,9GHz | RAM: 64GB DDR4 3000MHz VR: HP Reverb G2 | HOTAS: TM Warthog Throttle and Stick OS: Windows 10 22H2
doright Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 "DCS_updater.exe update @openbeta". Can this be used to copy to new beta directory, or just convert the existing install to beta in place?
Kayos Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 Can this be used to copy to new beta directory, or just convert the existing install to beta in place? Converts the existing install. You can convert it back anytime too. Or you can just download & install the separate version and have 2 if you want. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
TEMPEST.114 Posted November 7, 2018 Posted November 7, 2018 To convert back do you type: DCS_updater.exe update @release ??
MrDieing Posted November 7, 2018 Posted November 7, 2018 I believe it is @stable ''Greed is a bottomless pit which exhausts the person in an endless effort to satisfy the need without ever reaching satisfaction.'' Erich Fromm

bavella1 Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 Unfortunately I am not able to change my openbeta to stable. neither with CMD, nor with SkateZilla's utility. It is always checked successfully, but DCS remains openbeta. What could it be?
MrDieing Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 What command are you using for the CMD? Do you have the locations set correctly in the GUI? ''Greed is a bottomless pit which exhausts the person in an endless effort to satisfy the need without ever reaching satisfaction.'' Erich Fromm
bavella1 Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 This is how I was trying it out both ways. Thanks in advance for the help! 1

bavella1 Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 Because I'm asked at least once a day when starting DCS-World, if I want to update to the version 2.5.4.25729 ...
QuiGon Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 Because I'm asked at least once a day when starting DCS-World, if I want to update to the version 2.5.4.25729 ... Hmm, that's weird. It shouldn't do that... :dunno: Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
draconus Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 This is how I was trying it out both ways. Thanks in advance for the help! I see that now. You have both versions installed. You ran the command from the stable folder so it stayed stable. Go to the openbeta folder and run the cmd there. bavella1 Posted December 31, 2018 Posted December 31, 2018 (edited) I see that now. You have both versions installed. You ran the command from the stable folder so it stayed stable. Go to the openbeta folder and run the cmd there. Is not the openbeta so changed to stable? I would like to keep an openbeta and a stable version! Again, to describe it clearly: DCS-World in the folder "... DCS World Stable" offers me openbeta-updates, which is undesirable! How it developed: First, I flew a lot with the openbeta. Then we decided to use only the stable in multiplayer. Therefore I copied the openbeta and now would like to change it to stable. In principle, it is enough to make sure that you do not click on openbeta updates with the stable. However, it would be nice if I could set the updater of "my stable" so that he offers me only stable updates and no more openbeta updates ... Edited December 31, 2018 by bavella1 explanation added
KittyVCAW-1 Posted February 17, 2019 Posted February 17, 2019 Or, if you know how to use a command prompt: Start a command prompt. Navigate to DCS install directory and then into the folder "bin". Run command "DCS_updater.exe update @openbeta". Finished! If I do this will I lose all my keybinds and settings? I've spent literally weeks getting everything just right. Went to do my first multiplayer session, I need open beta to play with them. Installed open beta and everything is back to square one. I don't have enough room on my SSD to have both. I'm not deleting the stable version unless I can import those settings somehow or retain them by updating the stable version into the beta version. Multiplayer sounds so much fun but this could be a deal breaker:cry: Nobody likes me because I'm unsafe.
draconus Posted February 17, 2019 Posted February 17, 2019 If I do this will I lose all my keybinds and settings? I've spent literally weeks getting everything just right. Make a copy of \Saved games\DCS\Config\Input folder. After turnover to Beta the game may be using new folder \Saved games\DCS OpenBeta\ so you can copy the Input folder over there. Same with option.lua file. Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
KittyVCAW-1 Posted February 17, 2019 Posted February 17, 2019 roger thats exactly what I was after. I should have worded that differently. Thank you. Nobody likes me because I'm unsafe.
Conroy Posted July 24, 2020 Posted July 24, 2020 With the last update i've lost everything, and my beta has been pushed back to the stable from the updater (thank...really....). The CMD should have to be like this, just only to restore al least the beta. All the modules are lost. Open CMD as Administrator: C:\WINDOWS\system32>CD /D D: D:\>CD /D D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin>DCS_updater.exe update @openbeta
