Is anyone having issues with performance in the Persian Gulf map?

I get horrible stuttering and frame rate drops that make the plane ptretty much unflyable. All other a/c seem to be ok.

Tried clearing out shaders and changing settings but to no avail.

If anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated

No issues. PG about being absolutelly great is really well optimized. Probably the most smoohtly running map at the moment. Some few ideas:

1. As a rule with every major release start with a fresh DCS.openbeta folder. Just rename the old one and start DCS - it will create a new fresh settings folder. Setup graphics and other options in game. Finally move those of the files you need from the old folder - like the input configurations.

2. Check that you're not running SSAA antyaliasing as it's extreamly reasource heavy.

F/A-18, F-16, F-14, M-2000C, A-10C, AV-8B, AJS-37 Viggen, F-5E-3, F-86F, MiG-21bis, MiG-15bis, L-39 Albatros, C-101 Aviojet, P-51D, Spitfire LF Mk. IX, Bf 109 4-K, UH-1H, Mi-8, Ka-50, NTTR, Normandy, Persian Gulf... and not enough time to fully enjoy it all

I have the same problem as you, the Harrier in PG gives stutters. It's about every 10 seconds, my FPS has a sudden drops from ~70 to ~30 and back.

Interesting. I have similar rig to you, specs wise.

I’m getting bad stuttering with the F/A-18C in the PG map as well.

I fly VR only, so this may not apply to you. This driver has been solid for me. My rig specs are in my sig. So YMMV.

Thanks,

everything looks ok, the only thing I would mention is the high resolution

2560x1440 on a GTX 970 will be making it work. it could be your bottleneck

Try playing in a window using a lower resolution, just to test, do you see a difference in performance?

I reckon my issues are more TrackIR related more than anything. If I disable TIR then I do not get the major stutters that I've been experiencing, just the odd minor micro stutter here and there. I can handle those.

Question is, how to fix it? There are a tonne of TIR related threads kicking about on the interweb with no resolution :(

No, this did not help.

But I found a workaround: limit the framerate to 50 fps. Given that I have a Gsync screen, this is fine for my eyes. The drops are still there, but less often and jumping from 50fps to 40 and back is not as noticeable as from 70fps.

Moreover, my graphic card seems not so "stressed" to get this framerate

Once i updated my drivers and increased my page file size then moved the page file to an ssd drive not the system or ED ssd a spare one i have installed its eliminated nearly all of my previous stuttering and lag.........
