Alpenwolf, mission Two towns. When I get closer to those big smokes, my pc start stuttering like hell. And i don't rememeber it did 4 months ago. I have i7 9900 K 32gb, 1080ti on VR.

 

Any idea what is causing it?

Had a really fun sortie in May playing Two Towns. The smoke effects really add quite some spice to the atmosphere!

I made a little video myself from a few days ago !

Some kind of tribute to Alpenwolf's epic fight :lol:

Oh, that fight! Was very low on ammunition and had to save what I had for the remaining Blue units.

Don't remember being hit so often though. In the middle of the fight I swapped with 104th_Tiger. He took the BMP-2 and killed the last Blue unit and I was dealing with the Bradley at Novorossiysk. So half the credit goes to 104th_Tiger :smilewink:

... And if the APC was really hit so often, then surely something wrong with its damage model. No way a BMP-2 can survive that much. I mean, 50 cal. from the Avenger destroy the BMP-2 easily with a few shots and it did happen 2-3 times on the server already.

Anyways, nice footage :thumbup:

A NEW MISSION HAS ARRIVED!!!

 

Operation: Sneaky Bastards

* The mission will go online in two days, on Monday around 1930 zulu time.

* The mission lasts for 5 hours. 3 hours in the dark and 2 hours in the early morning time.

* B-52's are included if the conditions are met for them to carpet bomb their target - see Blue objectives.

Situation:

 

Red bases: Lar Airbase (main airbase), Bandar Lengeh, Shpora FARP

Blue bases: Lavan Island Airport (main airbase), Kish Airport, Rome FARP

 

In operation One Night in Arabia the Blue nation was victorious. They took over Kish Island and now it's time to sneak up on Bandar Lengeh airbase through the night and capture it. Furthermore, Red has a FARP 75 km north of Bandar Lengeh airbase, where Red Ka-50's and Mi-8's operate from. Blue has mobilised a ground force of Abrams tanks and Bradley's on the southern front to take over Bandar Lengeh airbase, while Blue allies have launched a group of Challenger ll tanks and MCV-80 APC units on the northern front to take on the Red FARP, Shpora.

Two Su-25's were upgraded recently with a Shkval TV among other systems onboard and will operate for Red from Lar Airbase. However, they still lack some weapons and certain pods. This might be the game changer in this campaign along with the Ka-50's for Red.

Watch out for B-52's... They're waiting for the right moment to carpet bomb Bandar Lengeh airbase.

 

 

Red Objective:

Enemy ground troops have landed on the island and currently pushing with Abrams tanks and Bradley's towards Bandar Lengeh airbase and with Challenger ll tanks backed by MCV-80's towards our FARP (FAPR Shpora is marked on the F10 map).

 

Primary Objectives:

- Destroy any enemy ground units you spot on the main island west of Bandar Lengeh and our FARP.

- MiG's are mainly tasked with CAP and escort missions.

- Su-25T's and Ka-50's are mainly tasked with destroying enemy tanks at WP-1 and WP-2.

- WP-1 is where Challenger ll tanks and MCV-80's are located at mission's start.

- WP-2 is where Abrams tanks and Bradley's are located at mission's start.

- Watch out for potential B-52's approaching from the south (if so, you'll be notified via radio messages)

 

Secondary Objective:

Destroy the enemy's FARP structures and vehicles to disable his SA342M's from rearming. The enemy's FARP Rome is marked on the F10 map - ARC freq. 865 kHz.

 

Mi-8's:

Your only tasking is sling loading ammo crates from the FARP to Bandar Lengeh airbase.

Ammo-1 delivers ammunition to 2 additional T-72B's at the airbase (2 x T-72B's spawn at the airbase).

Ammo-2 also delivers ammunition to 2 additional T-72B's at the airbase (2 more T-72B's spawn at the airbase).

Ammo-3 delivers ammunition to 6 x T-55's. Time to mobilise our good old reserve tanks!

Ammo-4 delivers ammunition to one additional SA-15 Tor unit (additional SA-15 spawns at the airbase)

 

* Make sure you take the right ammo crate for activating what is needed and UNHOOK it within 2 km from Bandar Lengeh's runway *

Frequencies:

 

EWR: 124 MHz, channel 0 for MiG-21 and L-39, channel 2 for MiG-19.

FARP Shpora: 127.5 MHz

 

Mi-8's Jadro 1A for intercomms with other Mi-8's only: 035500 KHz

R-828: Channel 9 for Mi-8's and Ka-50's (helicopters comms)

 

Qeshm Island airbase NDB: 408 kHz

FARP Shpora: 414 kHz

Enemy FARP Rome: 865 kHz

Blue Objective:

 

 

In 3 hours the sun will rise and we lose our element of surprise and the cover of the darkness. Be swift about it, gents, and get the job done ASAP!

 

Our southern front is a force of Abrams tanks and Bradley's tasked with destroying anything in their path on the way to capturing the enemy's airbase of Bandar Lengeh.

 

Our northern front is a force of allied Challenger ll tanks and MCV-80 APC's tasked with destroying anything in their path on the way to capturing the enemy's FARP of Rome.

 

WP-1 for A-10A's and SA342M's is Bandar Lengeh airbase.

WP-2 for A-10A's and SA342M's is the enemy's FARP of Shpora (marked on the F10 map).

 

B-52's:

There is a KUB site (SAM SA-6) at Bandar Lengeh airbase and one SAM SA-15 Tor unit. Destroying the KUB's radar unit and the Tor will make way for our B-52's to carpet bomb Bandar Lengeh airbase.

- The new mission replaces the mission One Night in Arabia as the latter will go offline on that Monday.

The issues with the 24J is because ED changed the AIM-9P without informing Heatblur. As the 24J is designated as a different weapon, it remained unchanged. Heatblur is now aware of it and has once again made the 24J to be a duplicate of the AIM-9P. The changes should be included in the next patch.

Server News:

 

Operation Sneaky Bastards:

- As mentioned before, CTLD is not included. We all know sling loading tanks like that is unrealistic. If only the infantry units were more dynamic and reliable. So let's keep pretending... for now.

- In this mission, I'm trying to get away from CTLD and see how things go. After all, I'm trying to simulate realism here within the limited options at hand. Hoping for a brighter DCS future. And it seems to become so.

- Therefore, you will see slowly but surely slight changes here and there in the upcoming missions.

- And if that goes well, older missions will receive some renewing too.

- The Su-25T in this mission will have limited weapons, especially the Vikhr's.

- The Harriers are not included this time, because I'm trying to include 2 x F-14B's taking off from a carrier.

- The problem is, limiting weapons on carriers is still bugged. So all weapons would be allowed.

- If anyone is aware of some script or mod that limits the warehouse on carriers, please let me know. Couldn't find anything and frankly, don't think there is.

- The mission will go online tonight around 1900 - 1930 zulu.

- Share your feedback, please. I have the feeling with the Su-25T and the Ka-50 combined, the Blue northern front might get slaughtered quickly.

Was smoke density already reduced on yesterdays two towns? I believe so. But unfortunately I had turn off rain droplets and reduced pixelation from 1.5. to 1.3. so I can't say what helped.

 

If you reduced, I'll try in a single player with previous settings.

Time for an F14 AWACS :D

 

I think if you loadout the F14 empty, just with a gun, it is still going to be quite formidable in the merge with rear aspect heaters only and a full F14 crew.

I think if you loadout the F14 empty, just with a gun, it is still going to be quite formidable in the merge with rear aspect heaters only and a full F14 crew.

No AA missiles for the F-14B in Sneaky Bastards. The mission is at night mostly and with missiles she would become even deadlier. Besides, she carries the AIM-9L and M versions only and both are currently disabled. Use it as a ground pounder. Get a human RIO in the back to help you with the GBU bombs, etc.

Anyways, most fights end up with guns only these days due to the nature of the dogfights we have with the current weapons' restrictions. So even with guns only for the F-14B, she should still be capable.

I'm testing things out before maybe allowing AA missiles (including the AIM-7F) and adding the Tomcat to a big mission during the day hours, such as Search & Destroy which is currently offline.

Completely agree, sorry to clarify but I meant even with an F14 with its gun only it will be a handful for the other fighters, even with their Fox2.

A decent counter to the AIM-7 should be the R-27R

Introduced in '83, with a range compareable to the AIM-7's, and also being a Fox-1, the missile stats are close.

 

It can be carried by the MiG-29A, on 2 inner stations. No other plane we have on the server can carry it, so there should be no problem with warehouses and limits. The Su-27 can also carry them, but it's not in any missions as of now

 

Modern aircraft lacking Fox-2's would be an interesting dynamic, where they would dominate in medium range combat, but lacking the missiles needed in close, they would be forced to go guns after the merge. Not a big problem for a Tomcat or a Fulcrum against a Tiger or a Fishbed, but quite distracting. It would be easy to Fox 2 one from behind while it's merged.

That said, it would also probably be annoying to MiG pilots, as they can only carry 2 Fox-1's, making their sorties really short, where as the tomcat can have up to 6 sparrows if it wants to

It would solve the R-60M and AIM-9L problem tho

alpenwolf would even be able to put some F-14A / I on the red side, cuz heatblur is making the specific iranian version, with limited weopons load, no pod....

The MiG-21 can carry the R-60M, which is why the Su-25 gets no for self def, and the MiG-29's are a pain to set up right

As for the tomcat A bringing in older AIM-9's, yes that will solve the 9L problem

 

And having tomcats on both sides would be quite confusing. Keep in mind most IFF on the server is done visually

Which is why you've never seen any airplane or helicopter over the years of the Cold War server on both sides. IFF issues!
