The JF-17 is not better than the F-16; it's different. It's how you fly that counts.

So any news on the MiG-19S version?

+1

Especially now an F-4 (Heatblur) and an F-100D Super Sabre are in the works(see 19th August Newsletter).....it would be very nice to have the MiG-19S version.

And yes I would pay for the S version too.....we need it RAZBAM....so please consider it.

It's been a while since I've seen any new MiG-19P status. Anyone know if this module is still really buggy and poor quality? I'd like to fly it but I'd rather fly a well-made module.

All in all, I haven't flown it for a long time, and what bugs? 😉

I don't know about any bugs, but I fly it extensively in Engima's Cold War Server and thoroughly enjoy it. It's actually one of my favorite modules.

It's been a while since I saw, so I'd have to find them again. I remember a video I saw showing how it was far from release-worthy.

I finally managed to get a computer to run DCS, so I guess I could just check for myself now.

Glad to hear it! I love the farmer. Would love to fly it if it's in a good state.

Very sad. It's time to take a closer look at the toggle switches on the fuel pumps.

Study it deeper and you will be very disappointed. The model is not finalized and abandoned.

Nope, sorry. I must be a cheap date and easily satisfied because I still love flying the Mig-19.

This plane still has some flaws, but damn the MiG 19 and the new Sinai map are my best purchases in DCS! I really enjoy the MiG 19, even though it's slower than the MiG 21, I think I'm still getting more fun. RAZBAM may not have been able to do everything that was intended, but thanks anyway to the RAZBAM! This is a very important plane for those who fly wiht red planes. But who knows how to navigate this plane on the Sinai map??? I have no idea how i can use this radio station on which there are only kHz waves.

By using a map, a compass and a stopwatch, and - if you're really serious about it - doing wind calculation before 🙃

Yes, we are all used to such navigation with piston aircraft. But I think Egyptian and Arab MiGs in general used more modern radio navigation. The fact is that the MiG 19 is an all-weather interceptor, which means the use of radio navigation, among other things. It is also important for night flights.. I don't know, maybe it can install some kind of mobile radio station on a map with kilohertz waves?

Sorry, I don't know if there's a solution for placing ARK stations on the Sinai map. But be assured that compass and stopwatch navigation has nothing to do with piston aircraft. It still was the main navigation type in that "golden MiG era", and would be used in all weather conditions and in night time.  Radio navigation systems like ARK and RSBN have always been a navigation aid, but never a standalone navigation type. I personally only use ARK stations for bad weather landings and checking the aircraft's position by cross bearing, and that's what the ancestors did. The term "all-weather interceptor" rather implies the presence of a radar system than the use of radio navigation.

I cannot agree with you on this. All-weather ability are provided by the entire complex of radar and navigation equipment. And on the jets of VVS of that time, near / far  beacon was constantly used in USSR. IDK how it was in Korea

As for the radar...AFAIK In the USSR, the idea of radio guidance from ground-based air defense points was actively promoted. The plane's radar was just an addition

Yes, they were used for approach procedures like "2x180°" and the so called "calculated angle" which were technically bad weather approach procedures, just like I wrote before. Nevertheless, they were used every day. But this has nothing to do with navigation as used on cross-country flying, which was done by compass & stopwatch in the first place.

In bad weather and at night, the radar is not just an addition, it is a neccessity. Yes, GCI guided your plane to a position behind the enemy, so that - in good weather conditions - you could see the enemy right in front of you. But at night and in bad weather, you had to switch on your radar to "see" the enemy. Hence, all-weather interceptors were equipped with a radar. This is why the MiG-19S ist not an all-weather interceptor. BTW, these terms were not invented by me, but by soviet design bureaus.

But this is getting off-topic.

Anyone who knows how to radio-navigate soviet style on the Sinai map, please take over.

With regards to the original question, you can create NDBs by placing units on the map, assign a frequency in the KHz area and make it transmit a message, preferably a morse code for the designation, as a loop. That should be receivable by the MiG-19 ARK. It has to be done by the mission designer though, so you probably won't see this on public servers.

(Downside is that all FC3 aircraft in the mission will hear every single transmission at the same time, which quickly becomes unbearable)

Sincerely, I hope that Razbam fixes first the remaining radio & gunsight keybinds of the Mig-19P that don't work yet, and any left over development resource is place on the MiG-23 project.
