Yes itґs true, if you donґt see is because you donґt read enough.

Its true, an announcement is due soon but it can be anything ranging from something like the sticky on top of this forum, to the very launch itself (wich IMHO I doubt, much debugging to do, me suspects).

They are going to release a new limited edition black shark themed smilie for use with this forum only!

No one can wait I can't believe you missed all the memos about it.

No one can wait

You're not kidding EscCtrl... I've nearly chewed my own arm off.

Lt. Commander Block: Every aerial photo and recon report indicate a defensive arsenal in the D, and perhaps negative C, categories. There's also some anti-aircraft squadrons.

Admiral Benson: I don't have a clue what you're talkin' about, Phil. Not a clue. I have a shell the size of a fist in my head. Pork Chop Hill. The only way I can make this toupee to stay on is by magnetizing the entire upper left quadrant of my skull, so you just go ahead and do what you do.

That SIM is going to be a legend! Usually governments dont put out something that is just designed not to while ago, very high value tech by the Russians. I mean no country would!

No man... I'm betting that their really very close to getting a candidate for release...

I think it was one of the last posts from Wags that sort of hinted that things were in the final stretch and that the forum was about to explode...

Whatever the case maybe I certainly don't think that we'll have to wait another year to get our hands on this..

And once Black Shark is out I'm also betting that the new dual core engine will be close to finalization and well begin to see new products just begin to roll out more frequently..

Is that sarcasm? I generally assume everything written on the internet is a joke for the sake of argument, but I read that as though you were serious. Do you really think that they will have built a whole new engine to accomodate hyper threading, becuase you realise it'll take that much work to do right? Then even after that announcement a few months back about how they are spending time on other projects (commercial/military stuff) they will suddenly release lots of public games without warning?

I'm not saying you are wrong but I highly doubt that's the case, any evidence to back up what made you think that?

After challenging Wings over Europe from Bold software (http://www.boldgames.com) with Lomac, they decided to go for the american software maker's largest market, by offering a competing product for the John Deere North American Farmer series :

Don't be silly, tflash! Wags sent me a PM and told me that the announcement will say that they have decided to convert Black Shark into a 2D point-and-click adventure game instead. He begged me not to tell anyone, so keep this to youself, alright?

* Look at cockpit.

You are looking at a beautiful 3D cockpit. As the sun reflects off the altimeter and blinds your eyes for a second or two, you curse the developers for deciding on not to make this game any fun.

* Use mouse on 3D cockpit.

You move your mouse over several buttons in the different instrument panels, but to no avail. You curse once again.

* Move head in order to look out of the window.

Forget it! I understand what you are trying to do, but we (the devs) won't let you.

* Eject to get the hell out of this game.

We (the devs once again) won't let you do this. Do you have any idea how many hours we spent on converting a nearly completed helicopter sim into a 2D point-and-click adventure game? Move away from the eject button or we will fry your harddrive.

* Use blow-torch on your harddrive.

WE (the devs say hi) decide when any harddrive should fry. Stop trying to ruin the fun of this game. We are watching you.

Who is still looking forward to the Black Shark add-on? Raise your hands, please, so that I can make a count. :-)

I want to get away, I wanna fly away.

Yeah, yeah, yeah!

I don't really want to reveal my sources, nor do I think that I need to or should... But anyway the next level of simulation, and that's not just Ed's product will be a dual core fired engine. So that is the wave of the future...

Whether you accept it or not, it doesn't matter... But you really have to think positive here young man... Ed will not leave us hanging forever and I'm sure that we'll see Black Shark in the near future... Thats all I have to say on this... So take off your helmet for a minute kick back and relax

No I believe Wags was eluding to simultaneous releases on Mac OS X and possibly Linux in the near future following in the footsteps of EA and ID Software.

There will most certainly be a big announcement around July time.

Regarding getting close to a release candidate, you may infer from ED's previously stated aim of releasing information and steady updates on content when the sim is beginning to be nailed down . . . . and the lack of such information so far . . . . that the announcement will not give an immediate release date.

But it will be a big one.

Beyond BS any flight sim that wants to have 'legs' will need to make use of multicore (not just dual-core) and properly support widescreen. Both are now in "common" usage and by the time the next new product reaches market most "gamers" will be on dual-core/multi-core.

You can understand why LOMAC doesn't support multicore because they were new and their popularity uncertain, same with widescreen, but now they are adopted, they become the 'baseline' to reach.

I also considered DX10 being a 'must' but on reflection I think it would be a 'nice to have'. I just don't see enough people being on Vista (or DX ported to XP) to make DX10 effort worth it but...as always I am prepared to be wrong (just my opinion, not based on any specific facts/info).

Can you imagine how good a sim would be if it has multiple cores to use for flight model, damage model, AI routines etc etc?

Anyways, I personally hope future products support multicore and widescreen so I can get the best out of my investments ;)

Oh I'm sure they will use hyperthreading but not soon. In the next release that uses a new engine you are probably right. When you say they will release that soon though I assume you mean this year or next, which I highly doubt.

I always think when people say soon they mean the same soon that I would think of. Being young soon for me is sooner then soon for you :P
