There are a lot of issues right now with the current Open Beta. The next Open Beta update is scheduled for December 5. If all goes well with that then maybe Stable will get an update on December 12.

You dont want them to update stable with what's been in Open Beta the last month - you either get the early November update that broke the radar elevation to the point of barely being usable or you get the mid November update which was baked too early and has a lot of half-finished stuff in it. It seems like they're waiting till Open Beta actually has a stable version to release before releasing it - which is an approach I think we can all commend. If you want to get your hands on the half-implemented goodies, just switch to open beta.

succinct and accurate

2 weeks!

More true than you think... only people new to DCS would check 14x as often as necessary.

In other words... it will come when it's ready... they will release when they think you would actually want it.

Maybe I'm taking you too literally, but there is no point in checking everyday. Only every other Wednessday. That way your disappointment increases at a slower pace ;)

More seriously, it seems they are holding off pushing features to stable, because beta still contains some bugs. This is a major improvement compared to what they did earlier: push to bugs to stable. So it is sort of a good thing. But I can imagine people getting impatient.

Reading today´s update news, no update news about the hornet!

I think there will be no Hornet update coming Wednesday, except the training videos. Really disappointing!

I suggest you adjust your expectations, otherwise the next year is going to be very disappointing for you

You mean the post in the "Weekend news"? The post that mentions work on VR interface?! That statement made my day today:D

For me there is nothing disappointing...Especially the Hornet.

It is in EA and I appreciate that we have it rather than still waiting.

I have been waiting for 20+ years for a high fidelity F18 in a decent graphics engine with nice maps. Elated this has happened during my lifetime. There were times I had doubts it would ever happen. So I am thankful for ED and DCS. At this point, my simming life would suck without them.

There are us older sim pilots that appreciate what we have considering from where we have come over those many years.

In fact, I am enjoying the Hornet so much that I dont give a rats arse whether it is updated every two weeks or not. But I know it will come. Being impatient and then disappointed because a patch does not come with the goodies you want when you want it makes no sense at all. The F18 record to date does not justify that.

Well said MegOhm_SD . There is so much to learn to flying the f-18 proficiently that like you, being patient and simply learning to consistently being able to CASE III, A-A refueling etc is a challenge. I know it's fun to go blow stuff up and play with new functions...but patients is a thrice rewarded virtue...right? Take the optimists view that at least they are working on additions, fixes and getting things right...and within weeks...not years.

F 18C here....I use auto start from the ramp but after I have taxi and took off and flew for sometimes 30 minutes sometimes one hour the plane will completely shut off and then it’ll state....auto start in the upper right-hand corner again going through procedure has me baffled

sometimes in the middle of flights 10,000 feet the whole plane will just shut off and in Right hand corner of the screen it will say starting auto start

Check your controls. Looks like you accidently trigger the autostart procedure.

Heh I do remember the time when you were lucky to get a frame every second for your F/A-18 simulator :smilewink:

They could set up a process that is more conservative with pushing new code to beta, so stable users would get the stuff a few weeks earlier in these cases. But that is away from something - would take resources, skill, and possibly slow down development a bit. In other words bringing sometimes broken stuff to beta rather liberally keeps the train moving and the code gets tested quickly.

+1 About the F/A18C, a great multi-functional aircraft. I've been waiting for a long time. I can wait a little longer. I enjoyed the process of adding new functions and weapons during the testing phase. Every update and every new weapon excites me.

Agree.

I'm fairly new with DCS, so I've been practicing the AGM missiles and GBU bombs with the Warthog untill they arrive on the Hornet. I know, not entirely the same but the principles are. :)

Technically speaking, F18 Hornet should not even be in Stable, because it is an Open Beta aircraft. Only finished and stable air-frames should be in Stable.
