AGM-65F wonky, not as per Wags Feb 11 video still

So I'm like many others using the "Unrealistic Maverick Slew" option, and it just doesn't work as advertised in this video. Never did.

I can slew the Maverick, but when stopping slew close or on a target, it will never "auto lock" on anything. It still requires a TDC press to lock.

You got a video or track ?

Yes. It's in my post. A video by Wags, describing how it should work. The auto-lock when stopping slew, like in this video, does not work. Is anyone getting it to auto-lock like in this video?

Yes. Unrealistic slew option ON.

Some people have reported issues here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=226602&page=38

Seems to be isolated to particular setups / controllers. Works perfectly fine as described for me.

Are you using Unrealistic TDC Slew? Are you using a Warthog throttle? Are you getting the auto-lock without pressing TDC Depress?

I'm using the Warthog HOTAS.

I think Shadow means a video or track of the issue as you have it so we can see if there is anything we can see that might correct it for you

I'm using the Warthog HOTAS.

I'm using a TWCS throttle (so no, not a Warthog), I use unrealistic slew and I get auto-lock without pressing TDC Depress.

You might need to add a good deadzone to the standard Warthog slew so that the sim doesn’t see any movement which will stop it locking.

Mine auto-locks just fine .. no problem at all.

Realistic TDC not selected ..

Ok so it sounds like it's a controller issue. I'm already at deadzone 15, curvature 20 on both X and Y on the ministick. I'll try to increase the deadzone even further then.

Yeah it is tricky... I have a TWCS throttle and I also use the unrealistic TDC setting.

My settings are Deadzone at 10 and Curvature for vert/horiz both at +5.

Try being real gentle and make small inputs on your TDC, you'll get it. I still have not mastered this, but it DOES work as per Wags' vid, you just have to be accurate.

Even though I DID lock up a target, a MAVF still missed it... Dunno why, but prolly the control stick actuator (that'd be me) screwing things up...

Roger. I'll tweak my settings on the ministick and give it another go.

I have the same issue and setup as you. I’ll try the larger dead one also and let you know if it works.

AFAIK that is how unrealistic slew works - TDC down to lock.

In realistic mode - you press and hold TDC down, slew to target and then release TDC to auto-lock.

Some players found holding a button down while slewing awkward, with 'unrealistic slew' - you can slew independently and press TDC when you want to lock a target.

No that is incorrect, it should attempt to lock 1sec after slewing ceases.

You can make it attempt to lock before the 1sec delay by pressing TDC down.

The issue is that for some people it doesn't seem to do anything after a delay (it works for me).

I'm wrestling with this problem now. I'm learning the Hornet and Mavs for the first time using AGM-65F's and the default training scenario Wags uses in his video. I'm using a Virpil T-50 setup on Full fidelity mode. I have my TDC slew bound to the 4+1 hat on the side of the T50 throttle, with depress on the +1. I'm aware I need to hold the depress to be able to slew, but it's not working. I have Master Arm On, A-G Mode, Mavs Armed, Sensor Select indicating a star in the top right of my DDI, but no joy on the slew. Thinking it was a throttle issue I tried using the keyboard commands (holding Enter for TDC Depress and using , . / to slew, and its still not working. Is this an operator error issue and I'm missing something fundamental? Note I'm trying this both in Active Pause and regular flight mode.

I'm wrestling with this problem now..

Are you uncaging maverick? Also. There is an option now that allows you to slew without holding tdc depress on special options page for f18.

Where is that "Special Options Page"? Under the controls menu? I wasn't able to locate it.

Messed around a bit more with no joy - I feel like I'm missing something basic but can't figure out what. When I press "TDC Depress", the crosshairs cycle on/off, but whether I hold it down or not it won't slew. It is definitely uncaged, A-G Mode, Master Armed, Sensor Select on the correct DDI. Bindings are correct, I checked, plus still no joy with the keyboard.

Main menu /options /special / f18. Uncheck realistic slew to not hold down button.

Can you slew targeting pod? Do you have mini joystick on throttle you can set up with x,y axis for slewing instead of 4way?

Thanks, yes it worked once I turned off realistic TDC Slew. That might be worth a data point that at least for me, the Virpil 1st Gen T50 Throttle did not work with the combined depress/move.ent on the throttle thumb hat. Disappointing but oh well, at least it's working and I made my first expensive virtual holes in the dirt.

. Thanks much!

Combined depress/move doesn't work on the Warthog HOTAS throttle either (problem on the Thrustmaster end, nothing ED could do about it) which is why the option to turn off realistic slew was added.

That’s only true if you use the depress on the slew control. Binding depress to something else works fine with depress and move on the Warthog.
