RustBelt Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 How about side bets on how much other stuff is going to break in the Beta when the F-14 drops. And how much of it is going to get passed straight into the "Stable" build unresolved.

Tinkickef Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 (edited) Bringing out early access in October is more than premature it's well before any early access should be, guess Heatblur needed money for Xmas, putting countless vids up on YouTube of those lucky to have access ain't helping, im good with patience but this is way more than you deserve, get it out and update if needed, I don't buy strawberries in October so I can eat them in June..... But you do go to the supermarket and stock up with groceries for the week? The point of this being you can afford the time and money to buy now and enjoy later. This is why many people, me included pre order. No matter what happens to my job, I can afford it now and will receive it later when maybe I can no longer afford it later. It's insurance and an investment in my future, just like the tin of beans you bought at the supermarket is for you. You have it and know you will not starve tomorrow. I preordered about a week after the option became available. The money came off the credit card, the credit card bill was paid off nearly six months ago, I did not miss the money, I have not missed the money and it seems like I never had the money in the first place. No point keeping it in the bank with crap interest rates. Numbers on balance statements do not excite me. However I do have a Tomcat arriving in the near future without any further demands to my decision making capabilities or bank balance and that IS exciting. Risk... I am sure you will mention that HB could go out of business and I lose my money, like a few have been burned in the past. Yes, every decision involves risk, you are betting on the most likely outcome being the one you want and the reward being commensurate with the level of risk. You could open your tin of beans and dislike the taste of the tomato sauce.... it's the risk you take. Supporting an outfit pushing the boundaries of what is possible in flight sims is just the cherries on top and is also an investment in the future of this hobby. cercata Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 No matter what happens to my job, I can afford it now and will receive it later when maybe I can no longer afford it later. It's insurance and an investment in my future, So in case you get fired, you'll not have anything to eat, but you'll be able to play with the Tomcat !!! When I buy EA or Kickstarter, i prefer to see myself as doing patronage of some people with lots of talents but not cash, then allowing people who didn't do EA to buy a finished product that wouldn't exists with those patrons ;)

As I said, the point being that if I lost my job tomorrow, I can afford a tin of beans and STILL have the Tomcat. It's really not difficult to understand...... ;) Then of course there is the last paragraph that you ignored in your quote..... The bit about helping HB... Yes, every decision involves risk, you are betting on the most likely outcome being the one you want and the reward being commensurate with the level of risk. [...] Well said, your post pretty much sums up how I see the buy early thing as well. As far as it goes with the risks, that happened to me already in a case that was not pre-sale. Just ordered some stuff over the internet that I couldn't get in my area, never got the things nor my money back, simply because the company just went bankrupt and I had the bad luck to order at the worst time spot. Basically, you can go out to the grocery store, buty your stuff and end up in the hospital for a month on the way back home and all the things you bought, well... after a month they're just for the trash bin anyway - the risk is always there And remember guys, the glass is always full - just might there be air in it as well

Alphamale Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 ha ha ha ha ha all this bitching about EA and it doesn't matter. It's over. Move on we have a release date. Fantastic. You go and test it for us and let us know what bugs there are...when it's relatively few, then I'll buy it. After the FA18 EA, I promised myself, I'd never buy another. Plus, it'll be much cheaper then too.

In the mean time, I will be flying a mostly complete, with maybe some bugs, F-14B Tomcat out working the Hornets in DCS. T6nit Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 My issue is the early release to a bunch of you tube paladins, throw out a couple videos as a company and get after cleanup items before launch. I'm kinda sick of virtual pilots waxing eloquent on a subject they have no expertise in....just give us Chuck's guide or something or the manual nobody wants a Natops on this thing do you? I only cared when my life was at stake....
Gunslinger22 Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Literally a day before the release and you bother surfacing this thread back from the grave it should never have risen from to complain about content creators, nice. "I'm just a dude, playing a dude, disguised as another dude."
Flagrum Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 ... and the manual is available for a few weeks now.
