As title.

There's always a line on the left DDI, even with no warnings, showing for example "ADV-".

When you have engine heating on, it shows an advisory, etc.

However, these messages are obscuring the SA page lower right BRA indication, basically forcing us to show the SA page on the lower DDI, which is generally not great.

Any way to clear those indications? At least the general "ADV-" which is always there?

+1 good question

I don‘t think so. This is just as it is on the real plane which has been confirmed in multiple posts recently. This is also the major reason why you want to have certain pages such as the radar only on the right DDI.

Seems like a real life limitation/oversight of the F/A-18C LOT 20 avionics was a failure to properly integrate the SA and the Radar. Since they don't 'mate' well, one would like to at least have them both up at the same time... and at eye level. To have to look down, away from the fight outside, in order to gain situational awareness seems a bit counter-productive. But I do not doubt that ED is doing a great job modeling our hornet, curious warts and all.

Someone posted a picture a short while ago where a cleared ADV was present on the left DDI and the black line didn't mask the rest of the screen. Unfortunately, I can't find it right now, must be in one of the threads here that have been posted since the latest open beta patch.

Also, you can find an interview on Youtube with a pilot who states that they had the radar on the right DDI and the SA page on the left one most of the time. Now, there could be two reasons for this:

1. Maybe the pilots didn't care about the obscuring black lines or had no messages anyway which would lead to display symbology masking, whereas we do have messages/advisories all the time because a lot of systems aren't implemented yet.

2. Maybe it's due to different software versions, although I somehow doubt it.

ED has their SMEs though, so what do I know.

The problem is the ADV is always there and you can't clear it.

And Wags has confirmed that this in an unfortunate reality (oversight by MacAir/Hughes?) in the real F/A-18C Lot 20. :-(

Its really annoying, and having the SA in the center display is not really a good option since it has a lot of information which needs to be seen quickly.

You're exactly right. It is very strange, too, (as several have said on the forums) that the SA/Datalink and Radar aren't 'mated' more extensively.

Really? I'd like to see that... I'm pretty sure I read from one of the SMEs around here that this should vanish if there's no advisories, just too lazy now to look it up.

That's exactly where I've been - go to page 2 and check post #18, follow that link and read up point #16 there. Wags photo has an advisory shown and he never said the line should still be there if there are none listed.

Is anything already known with the "ADV" line on the left "DDI"? It is very tiring and unbelievable that in reality this line could not be turned off. Pilots would go crazy if they had such problems.

AFAIK it's realistic, I'm not sure if DCS is 100% correct in it's implementation but AFAIK the advisory also gives info such as if your A/C is being interrogated by Mode 4 IFF, etc. - so is still important/populated in combat.
