...is driving me insane.

It takes WAY too long to fast forward the tape in the Walk-man.

I just, I can't!

Pls HB fix or refund!

Well, my Walkman stopped the Tape when I pressed Stop and did not rewind, so I could start playing from the position I stopped when resuming after Days. Everytime I start a new Mission I am back to Song No. 1... if you could keep at least the song stored and resume from that one over sessions, that would be awesome.

Also MY Walkman had a volume control wheel, a very handy control, to adjust the songs volume... just saying.

I love the feature, but it could really use some improvements to be even more realistic. :)

There is a volume control. Go into the walkman controls and bind the keys. I used Lctrl+Lshit+M and Lctrl+Lshift+N respectively.

Heatblur was kind enough to include the .wav version of each track, so I added them to my music player and use that instead ... I can control it from within the game using the Multimedia keys of my keyboard :)

Baaah, no, that is soooo NOT 80ies. I love the Walkman sound and all, just if it would stop and resume...

Oh God, I remember how the track always jumped and skipped when you were anything more than snailing over the tarmac... :D

Yes! We need a realistic discman including track-skipping for 90s missions.

I would love a random fail on the walkman, if you hit fast forward it will eat the tape! Maybe with an extra commentary from jester when it happened.

+1 on the "remember" position thing.

As already mentioned by Strikeeagle345, there's a volume control already, but it could have some improvement. My main gripe with it is: I click volume down 5-6 times, hear that click of a button everytime, but the volume almost doesn't change at all. Then the next click tones it down a bit, the one after that by quite a lot and the click after that mutes the thing completely. It's not linear like a volume control would be on such devices. BTW Windows is also having this utterly bad habit since Vista, most volume changes happen in the 0-32 range, above that the differences are very small... Icing on the cake would be an axis mapping.

Also, it would be great if it was possible to create virtual tapes with Sides A and B, with a folder structure like Sounds\Walkman\[Tape1A]\[oggfilesinhere]. Keybinds needed would be just next/prev tape and switch sides. Of course, position should be remembered here as well.

Possibly with a descrition file that contains the tape title and track titles which get imported into a kneeboard page, but that would really be the cherry on top of the icing.

With that we could replicate real tapes and switch them without having one big and unrealistic list of tracks.

But regarding all of this, take your time, these are wishes, not high priority items.

BTW I've got tapes that could never have been played in a real Tomcat in service as they've been released way too late for that... dealwithit.png

I actually made a thread suggesting that having the button click sound for every volume adjustment wasn't really necessary, and is quite garish/annoying to boot. But was ignored, as usual.

By the way I can't remember a walkman or tape deck that freezes up and stops working at the end of the tape. I've yet to be able to rewind a tape in DCS that's played through till the end. That problem was there already in the Viggen...

LOL.

Reminds me of the mid 80's, with the Commodore 64, its tape recorder (Datasette), ABC Turbo, and then choosing between having a tape full of games, or half a tape full of games, cause you had to fast forward to a given number, and start loading the given game :D
