laumaya Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 It will be cool to have a tool like the one used by CIG (Star citizen) https://robertsspaceindustries.com/roadmap/board/1-Star-Citizen And yes I'm waiting for the FLIR, not JDAM, SA, GBU... Current specs: Windows 10 64bit, i7-7700K @ 4.8 Ghz, 32 GB RAM, 1 To SSD, RTX2070-Super, TrackIR 5, TM Warthog, TM T.Flight Rudder Pedals
StandingCow Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 Thing is, Star Citizen times slip constantly as well, it's nice that they are so open but with that openness comes a lot of risk (which ED is aware of as they have run into it before as well). It's just part of programming as a whole, not just video games, bugs creep up, things don't work as expected... and stuff is delayed. 5900X - 32 GB 3600 RAM - 1080TI My Twitch Channel ~Moo
Dav IRL Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 Why not consider assigning more programmers to the F/ a-18c team? Now F/ a-18c has no TAG no A/G radar it can only be called F 18C. What's the point of voting for the feature we've been waiting for the most? Please do not let our expectations become a joke, let more and more waiting to consume our enthusiasm. Please give us a reasonable explanation ED won’t let you down, spend time in the mission editor building your own scenarios and learning that perhaps while you wait. 4.8 I7, 1080, TMW&T, SSD, VKB MK.IV.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted March 27, 2019 ED Team Posted March 27, 2019 The kids paid for the fuel in advance. And for the car. RomaniaK Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 Some peoples have been waiting since it was first announced/guessed around a decade ago. what's a few weeks ?
Eaglewings Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 I am no programmer but I look at this sim and think to myself, great feat to represent this complex systems in a desktop computer. As has been put out by ED, the move to monthly Hornet updates is to ensure a better playing sim as bugs can hamper the ultimate satisfaction we all seek. We have enough bugs and to introduce new one with new features would be spoiling the fun. I personally really enjoyed the two weeks(soon to be monthly) period to master newly introduced features. I have a good number of features in the Hornet to work with while new features are being cooked up. some1 Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 (edited) The kids bought the fuel and car in advanced and understood it was early access. Good luck explaining early access to a kid. :music_whistling: Anyway, the product does not have any kind of public roadmap or estimates, unlike most early access developments. So expect some flak from time to time, the "it's done when it's done" attitude and calling customers kids will not work on everyone. On the other hand, imagine what the reaction would be if the Hornet product page said in 2018 something like: "This product won't come with functioning A/G radar, TWS and targeting pod for more than a year". Yet we are nearing one year since release and these things are still somewhere far in the future. Oceandar Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 Some peoples have been waiting since it was first announced/guessed around a decade ago. what's a few weeks ?Yeah, I've been waiting since Ubisoft Lock On era. I remember Norman "Stormin" teased us in old Ubisoft forum with "no bucks, no Buck Rogers" idiom regarding the Hornet. So waiting for few weeks even months are nothing. Mastering others is strength. Mastering yourself is true power. - Lao Tze
Manuel_108 Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 (edited) Well said, some1. It’s true. Me personally, I don’t mind it but it’s still a fact. This stuff takes time though, so I doubt a roadmap would be achievable in the first place. Edited March 27, 2019 by Manuel_108

And that is what it boils down to, early access as we know already from other modules is a long process, most accept that and enjoy learning the module as the new features are added, others can not bare the wait, personally I see no point being angry / upset / disappointed, I understood what early access is and now I am busy enjoying what I have already :) ps My kids understand what early access is, both are gamer's from a very early age :) pps I no longer assist ED as a volunteer so this is my personal opinion ;) Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Cytarabine Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 Maybe just have a complete module (or one close enough to it) to go to and just jump in the hornet from time to time until it is complete. I have the Mirage and jump in that (have completed the included campaign and am halfway through Red Flag) when for some reason the Hornet or Tomcat frustrates me. Already with the included features the Hornet is night and day more capable than the Mirage. Personally I am enjoying learning a subset of features as each arrives. Went back tonight doing the SEAD mission in the Caucuses. With the HARM TOO mode and the SA page it played very differently (even though the same air defences went active) and I had a blast taking out the threatening SAM sites while skirting their range and then engaging two bandits before trapping on the carrier (a one wire but hey nobodies perfect). The SA page in particular is a game changer. I look forward to JDAMS, a TDP and TWS, and I can’t wait, but I know I have to.

Please give us a reasonable explanation Firstly, throwing more people at something doesn't mean it gets done faster. Understand what these devs are doing. They are taking systems, based on limited documentation and information, and programming them to work and not work how you would expect them in the real aircraft. It's not a matter of manpower. As for the vote, it was good to gauge where peoples desires lay, but desires don't produce code, it's still up to complexity, testing and implementation, and some things are more work than others.
