How is the ASW working, now that is only has 40fps to work with, compared to the 45 of the legacy Rift?

Seems there is a bug regarding turning Oculus home off after a session and back on and not getting anything on the screen. Reboot only thing that fixes it for me. Also, looks like it wants to see your sensors or it is not happy and wont cooperate. So keep them handy for starting I guess.

I dont mind this so much right now cuz you can leave home open and running between sessions.

But certainly dont want to have to reboot rather than it just run normally.

One would think that with so many users seeing this... they would also have seen this in testing.

That said, runs great for me in DCS. Just had an awesome session doing Carrier work.

I am having the same issue.

I have found if I restart the Oculus Service twice it will start working in the HMD again.

Saves at least having to reboot the PC.

Lot of folks reporting it over on the Oculus forums, hopefully they will get a fix pushed out soon.

My apologies worm but my S currently won't run DCS. First night ran like a charm, now it will run anything beautifully except DCS. I get the boot as soon as the cymbals start playing. If I can figure it out, I will do the videos for you sir.

Coming from TrackIr this is extremely immersive and very cool but unfortunately left me with really nasty motion sickness and headache. lol... I tried to give it another go later on in evening and the same thing happened.

Unfortunately its not for everybody. I'll be returning it and sticking with my TrackIr.

It takes weeks to get used to VR dude. I was sick for 3 weeks when I first got my rift 3 years ago. You have to work through it. I still get nauseous when I play any other games other than flight sims!

Very concerning all these problems with the S and no video after a while. Did they not test this thing? Hard to believe a problem that obvious wasn't found if they did. A lot of that going around these days with 'testers' missing very obvious flaws and bugs. I will definitely monitor this thread and others for the time being. Picking mine up tonight. DCS is the only thing I used it for so if it doesn't work right with that then it's not much use to me.

I had the no-video bug once. It went dark completely and I thought it was broken. What can make a difference on some systems is to disable Power Management for the USB ports (right click the USB Root Hub in Windows' device manager, select properties and disable all power management stuff).

No problem with the S since I did that, runs fine on both my desktop and my laptop without any issues.

I had some audio noise, but I removed the faceshield, the little audio connector was loose. Fixed that as well.

*** Mine is Fixed ***

Apparently mine was in the headset connection.

I removed the faceplate, and pulled the connector out.

I then re-seated it firmly - got to really push it in till it locks in place.

I also unplugged and re-plugged my USB 3 and Display Port connector on the PC.

I have now taken the headset off, closed Oculus Home, put headset back on and display comes back on every time!

I did this ten times, worked each time - woohoo!

Guys - if you are having the same issue, do the above.

Now if I could just get the lost audio in Oculus Home back after I updated to Windows 10 1903 this morning.

Alright, it surprised me. But it was for good, I have gone for it to optics and now have professional IPD measurement:-).

Anyways:

First NIGHT transit flight with mig21 done and its hell of an improvement. Definetly not a "trivial" upgrade. Its huge.

Thanks...I would guess a-lot of users issues could be related to this...Will give this a shot... but Wow, this doesn't say much for their Quality Control.

EDIT: I took the mask off to try to unplug the cord but found it was solid and hard to unplug, I didn’t want to force it. I pushed it to make sure it was tight. So not really sure I needed to.

On day 3 of release of a brand new piece of hardware you're saying the first issue we have come across is a scam? Wow.

It is an issue with the lead connection, and can be fixed. Just wait and see what Oculus say.

I think he was using a little satire there, talking about the new Rift S not including a microfiber cleaning cloth like the Rift CV1 did.

Captain Penguin, I had a thought (first time for everything!).

Launch DCS without the Oculus Home running so that you go into normal 2D desktop mode. Check in the settings VR tab and see if the option to Enable Virtual Reality Headset is checked. Just an idea, but maybe worth a look.

Also, check and see if you also have SteamVR running. If you do, turn it off first and see if that helps. I've had (and still do have) the same issue as you, but for me at least, using Skatezilla's launcher and selecting the VR/ON option allows it to fully load everytime. This has to be an easy fix, we just need to dig a bit.
