Deadman Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Hi guys I know I missed the Alpha test But if i may make a suggestion . Let Dice get a copy of the model and really look at himself before any more wrapping takes place . No one here has more time with the actual aircraft than him and i am sure he can and will answer any question to make this the best possible model in Lock on. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
SuperKungFu Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 yea i agree, yeniceri you should send the final copy of the A-10 model to dice and let him take a look at it. Hopefully its not in an area where the uvmapping has already begun otherwise we probably have to go back a step. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

SuperKungFu Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 I'm pretty sure we got all the vital things covered, i mean i did point out A LOT of little details here and there that probably made Yeniceri's head spin haha. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Deadman Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 What I gave you his email before i went to EU for business. I Suggested you contact him at lest twice before It would be a wise decision to stop for a minute and do this but its you model and i have no right to demand any thing but for you to say your were never told about Dice is misleading ,but perhaps a laps in communication Sorry if this sounds harsh later https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
warthogmadman987 Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Ya not to be rude, but I think it looks good as is, and while I believe Dice's opinion is highly respected in this area, I agree with Yeniceri in the fact that it is too late and with Superkungfu that both him, myself, and the other alpha testers, found a great deal of the many bugs. Granted, maybe our work wasn't perfect, but I think that what we have now will get us by. I really think the model we have right now ya'll gonna like a lot. I agree that realism is always a point to strive for, which we did, but lets also consider that we want to get this model out there to enjoy! I agree with you Deadman, to bad that we couldn't get some professional advice, but this model is really sexy anyway. Or ugly, depending upon how you look at it.
JaNk0 Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Edit: You were faster warthog:P Well, anyhow...I've seen these Beta-testers out on the forums and I know that they are picky when it comes to details (no offence). What i mean is that they probably looked by every small thing that could possibly be wrong just to make it as real as it is in RL. Hope there won't be hard feelings from Deadman, as i understand it, you just wanted the model to be checked by a person that knows his thing. I say,Yenri, will there possibility for maybe an update if things are way wrong? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
zaelu Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Regarding the 3rd question I heard that the small rectangle holes in the fuselage are made to absorb the gases from the cannon away from the engines... also the starters of the engines are fired when the gun fires. Maybe is wrong or I understood it incorrectly but, was a A-10 pilot sitting in it's sit telling me that. borchi_2b Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 well not all the hogs have the golden windshields, but most likely the have it. well i guess it is allright when you make it lock like you feel it is right. i have to do the same with the blackbird at some parts, cause there are not to many pictures existing :-) http://www.polychop-sims.com
TheMoose Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Huge thanks Yeniceri, your contribution to this community in my book is awesome, anxious to test this new A10 out in the field. Antec 900 gaming tower, PSU: Corsair 750W, Q6600, Asus P5K, 8Gig Mushkin, Nvidia eVGA 280 GTX Superclocked 1G DDR3, SSDNOW200 Kingston Drive, TrackIr 3000+Vector, Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick, Saitek rudder pedals pro, Sharp 42" inch LCD Aquo. Deadman Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Smoke ingestion can actually cause a flameout in the hog. Fire the gat, you stand a chance to kill both engines. Wish THIS was modelled... No hard feeling but as this statement shows there are still many misconception and unresearched things about the A-10 by this community . This problem was fixed years ago by several methods one being the vents for gas from the gun to be vented away from intakes different powder for the cartages and igniters fire for the engines win the gun is in use. The reason i have suggested multiple time to have Dice review the model is that there have been several upgrades to the A-10 thought out the years such as the LASTE system witch the antenna on the vertical stabilizers and under the elevators are for but as far as i know there are no control heads in the cockpit for this system so should they be on the model but hey what do I know people were thinking buy removing the two reverse side hoods on the left of the cockpit Lo-fi and I were modeling an A-10 C model LOL. I am sure the A-10-A model will turn out just fine and no one will constantly complain about a bump on its nose in the wrong place. Keep up the great work guys https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

warthogmadman987 Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Im sure a LASTE 3 version is good enough here. The deal with the gun gas causing a flame out, I read in an aviation magazine not more than a year ago. If its not a problem, then its not a problem. It's not like that stuff can be correctly modelled in the lockon engine anyway. Ya, we can make it look like its there, but if it isnt, it wont matter much, becuase it wouldnt be doing anything...
Dice Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Guys, I don’t want to cause any turbulence in your community and I just was just offering to help where I could, If I had known about your project a few weeks ago I would have been here sooner but, I didn’t know so was unaware of the updates being done. That being said I think Yeniceri and the beta have done a great job with the model and I’m sure the Lock 0n community will be very happy with your guys work. I’m still happy to help where I can with either answering questions about the model, the real A-10 itself, or with the skinning effort. So towards that effort here’s the answers to the questions posed by Yeni. Question one- The RWR antennas can be either rounded or flat, the only difference between the two is the manufacturer of the antennas themselves. Same antenna just built by different companies, both styles can sometime even be found on the same aircraft, if you look closely. Question two- WOW I’m not really sure what you’re asking here. The slats are solid surfaces hinged on two arms which extend into the airflow to channel air into the engines. The slat is not hallow, nor is the wing under it. There are two slots through the wing surface where the arms run through to allow control of the slat. The solid slat is formed to match the contour of the wing so when retracted it matches the wing surface. Hope this helps?? Question three- Again I’m not sure what you’re asking. There are cooling vents, intake scoops, and other opening on the aircraft that do different things. Can you point-out in a picture what “square holes” you’re talking about? Question four- Without getting to deep “into the weeds” the A-10A does use the GPS antenna but, lock-on’s code doesn’t take that into account in it’s avionics so, if you used it, it would only be “eye-candy”. The “probe” forward of the GPS antenna (circled in Kung-Fu’s photo) is the total temperature probe and is found on ALL A-10A’s and A-10C’s, it should be included. Question five- Short answer is yes, the forward windscreen glasses are coated with a special coasting for night vision compatibility. Hell guys lets have a little fun, here's a link to a promo music video I made for next year's (it's never to early to plan) Hawgsmoke 2008. It's made to the 80's hair band Ratt's....wanted man... http://www.warthogpen.com/hawgsmoke_2008_files/hawgsmoke_2008_s.wmv 1 Ugly but well hung!
Yeniceri Posted September 27, 2007 Author Posted September 27, 2007 To Deadman.. What I gave you his email before i went to EU for business. I Suggested you contact him at lest twice before It would be a wise decision to stop for a minute and do this but its you model and i have no right to demand any thing but for you to say your were never told about Dice is misleading ,but perhaps a laps in communication Sorry if this sounds harsh later I didnt say that?!?! Did i say that?.. Calm down... I know you mentioned Dice, i remember it.. i just said i wish he was here before.. thats all..didnt mean any offence and for sure i was not trying to mislead anyone.. that was a harsh word.. 4 ppl tested this thing inside and out.. wasted their times..And all the guys at the community contributed with photos and ideas..And the model get a greenlight.. Maybe its got flaws, maybe some parts that should have been there are missing, maybe there are some parts there that shouldnt be.. But its done..This can take forever you know, Putting every bit and bolt and detail in a 3d model..They didnt build the real a-10 in 1.5 month, they spend years and years. To Community Ppl shouldnt forget that this is a GAME, the a-10 in the game is with almost no detail, and we are playing with it and having fun. This is a better one by lightyears, so no need to be angry or sad or anything..Dice's knowlage is much more on this craft than any of us..I respect that and understand it.. But i respect the tester affort also.. They said go.. its a go..Modelling is done..As i said in the begining of this project. If anyone didnt like what we did, than please dont use it.. (i just wanted to states these facts out for future. Becouse i know its going to be "This is wrong, this is not right" critics about the model, and i dont care) To Dice.. Wow .. thanks for the answers.. about the question 2. My question is this.. When they are extracted. Does the back of them rise too?.. When we sstand infront of the wings, and look inside the extracted slat.. can we see the sky from the other side :) question 2 cheers. borchi_2b Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 yeniceri, i could sent you the lom file of the fueltank and the 2 clean bmps, so you can make the tankskin fit the skin you are working on right now. where should i upload it it for you? but remember it will replace the su24 fueltank cause it is the only one that has about the original fuelamount. themeinit file has to be modified with lope and you would have to add at the stations 4 6 8 the 3000 liter tanks. the best is, that the tank works :-) greetings borchi http://www.polychop-sims.com
Yeniceri Posted September 27, 2007 Author Posted September 27, 2007 wow.. you are great.. you can upload anywhere you want.. not important for me.. i can dowload it from..anywhere rapidshare maybe?.. its got a free of charge uploader.. it works well.. zaelu Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 this is the pilot I asked about the smoke ingestion problem. (yeah, that guy in yellow T-Shirt fearing not to fall from there is me :P) I was climbing that ladder (boy it kinda woobles) and expecting to see a A-10C cockpit... I couldn't believe it... I was looking at a real Lock On A10 cockpit :) , It was realy close do the pilot but, comfortable (Always when I completly zoom out in A-10 in Lock On I remember that Hog Pit ;) ). And I said: "Oh... that is an A variant" and he said something like... "ofcourse, the C is not that numerous". And then I asked him "I learned that A10 A has a problem with the smoke from the gun killing the engines" and he repplied something like: "Oh, that one... was fixed long time ago... you see there are some cutouts in the fuselage (and he raised from the sit and pointed backwards to the plane) that are made to draw the smoke away from the engines... and as a safety measure the starters or the engines are fired when the gun is used... so is not a problem anymore" I took his word for it and I trust that more than a magasine. 2 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I5 4670k, 32GB, GTX 1070, Thrustmaster TFRP, G940 Throttle extremely modded with Bodnar 0836X and Bu0836A, Warthog Joystick with F-18 grip, Oculus Rift S - Almost all is made from gifts from friends, the most expensive parts at least
Mnemonic Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 that guy in yellow T-Shirt fearing not to fall from there is me Lucky you ;) About "cutouts in the fuselage" pretty nice ingeniring solution!
Dice Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Yeniceri, the picture below is the best shot I can find of the slats extended, the damage is from a bird-strike. As I said the slat is solid but comforms to the wing when retracted. Yes, you can see sky when the slat is extended if viewed from the right angle. The square holes are cooling vents for the avionics bays and are on all A-10s both the A and C models. There are small fans inside which pull air in when the aircraft is on the ground but, when the gear retracts the fans shut-off and by-pass air pulls the heat out of the bays. Zaule, like Deadman said the gun gass are not as big a problem as it was years ago because of the design changes he spoke of in his post. The ignitors do fire during gun bursts but, it's not as big a safty factor as it was 10-20 years ago. Ugly but well hung!
Yeniceri Posted September 27, 2007 Author Posted September 27, 2007 Thank you dice :).. i was really in doubt about that... and what a bird :) And about the square holes.. Thanks again..I wasnt sure about them ... Guys.. unwrap is almost over.. my plan is to give the bird to mitch for skining tomorrow night.. I hope i can finish it tomorrow.. Deadman.. friends?
