jef32 Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 Hi Is it a way to prevent the head to pass through the canopy, when bending on left or right with VR devices or TrackIR ? Gierasimov Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 I use TrIR5 and never seen this Intel Ultra 9 285K :: ROG STRIX Z890-A GAMING WIFI :: Kingston Fury 64GB :: MSI RTX 4080 Gaming X Trio :: VKB Gunfighter MK.III MCG Ultimate :: VPC MongoosT-50 CM3 :: non-VR :: single player :: open beta
jef32 Posted May 9, 2019 Author Posted May 9, 2019 With VR I pass through the canopy. I'll do a screen. Gruman Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 Nothing you can do... other than creating your own physical boundaries ;) I prefer it this way... uri_ba Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 Keeping you attached to the physical movement is what prevents motion sickness.. once you detach from it, i.e stop the movement on a virtual berrier, it might make a mess... Harlikwin Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 I dunno. I like to stand up while in the plane, look down at the nose, turn around 180, check my 6 from time to time, make sure the weapons are there, stretch a little bit on those long flights ;). msalama Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 Nah. On long flights, I'm finding I'm always having to take a little wee outta da window and that goes best when I'm standing. Don't fix a thing! The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.
Svsmokey Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 But ED can surely do something. Far easier for you to do something . Slap yourself upside the head every time it goes out the canopy . If you do it well , problem solved in no time :) 9700k @ stock , Aorus Pro Z390 wifi , 32gb 3200 mhz CL16 , 1tb EVO 970 , MSI RX 6800XT Gaming X TRIO , Seasonic Prime 850w Gold , Coolermaster H500m , Noctua NH-D15S , CH Pro throttle and T50CM2/WarBrD base on Foxxmounts , CH pedals , Reverb G2v2
SharpeXB Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 But ED can surely do something. If you limit the VR view what you’ll see in the sim is the cockpit moving with your head as you bang into it. That can be sickening or disorienting. i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5
Harlikwin Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 Yeah this is seriously a non issue unless you make it one. ED has better things to do with their time. Plus you can do dumb things when you want to. Fubarbrickdust Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 (edited) I completely concur with the other voices here when we say that artificially restricting head movement in VR is a VERY BAD THING. My feelings on this are very strong, to the point that whenever I see a thread made requesting this I wince, and hope the devs don't see it as a good idea/community request. At best it is very annoying and completely immersion breaking (and yes, much more than being able to move your head outside of the canopy). At worst...keep a bucket handy! The 'other' combat flight sim with VR support has this as a 'feature' - I don't fly any servers with it activated. I am grateful that it's an optional tickbox for SP. Op. Go try it, and feel for yourself. I also agree that moving your view outside the canopy can feel 'wrong' if you go out of your way to exceed the canopy glass. Do you know how I remedy this? - Exercise restraint and self control. Or open the canopy 1st. SharpeXB Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 I use a TrackIR and in sims where I can move my head through objects like the canopy I’ve just set my sensitivity to restrict this motion. i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5
