But it's DAMN hard w/o joystick extensions. Almost impossible.

You can use the TMHW for collective, but again, you'll be fighting the bird the whole time. Longer throws for cyclic and collective REALLY REALLY REALLY help. That and VR.

I am waiting for my collective...

Normaly i will get it next mounth

Its a coppy of the huey collective..

You will enjoy it!

I have an early version of this collective (and cyclic). It was a great step forward for my flying skills and I love flying with it!

Now I only need good pedals :book:

Here's something really fun to do:

Fly a simple low-level flight in the Huey through the mountains with the cargo doors open, and save the replay track. Replay the track, but press Shift+F4 view, then rotate the mouse and use ctrl+shift+num up/down/left/right to position the camera on one of the seats in the back.

Now you're riding in the back seat. In VR.

Bring a barf bag.

I love the Huey,,, My Oculus rift S will arrive tomorrow. I have been reading alot about Rift S settings, but they have only been coming from Fast Mover Pilots. Helo flights I would expect to be a bit different to get the ground detail. Can anyone share their Rift S settings relative to Helo flying?

I just maxed the clutter-grass and left everything else the same . You could prolly drop the view distance in helos without issue , which may give you some headroom for other eye-candy as well if required .

I went from the CV1 to the Rift S . Essentially , i don't use any of the graphics features in Oculus software beyond locking frames to 40 with ASW on in the Oculus debug tool . Nvidea settings i only change power management to "max performance" . MSAA i set to x2 , but surely with a 2080ti you could run x4 or a higher pd (or both) .

ASW is on Auto by default, leave it there.

Nvidia settings - if not already, set power management for DCS.exe to " Prefer Maximum Performance". Leave all others at application controlled.

SSAA in DCS - does not apply.

Try MSAA x2.

PD at 1 to start and work up from there. Graphics around medium settings.

Shadows are fps hogs.

MSAA is fps hog.

AF in DCS - should be able to set to 16x.

yada yada - your on your own. :smilewink:

Same here, love the Huey

Started flying the Huey in VR for about a month now. Can't seem to move on to my other modules now, damn Huey's got me. I think it's really tough to learn but once you're able to hover and land (almost where you want) you're getting the hang of it, really takes time but most rewarding.

I wanted better controls to help me proceed without spending a fortune. Here's what worked for me.

I have a set of CH Pro Pedals and a CH Combat stick that I had gotten off E-Bay for $50.00 for the set (lucky). What I did to the stick was remove the springs which just consist of unscrewing the screws in the bottom of the base and removing the springs from the gimbals. I used duct tape covered by packing tape on the exposed area back and front of stick to adjust the feel in the vertical axis and give some stiffness. I was able to stick a business card in between the gap for the roll axis. These give the right feel and the stick remains in place wherever you position it.

The collective is the CH Pro Throttle mounted at a 45 degree angle and mounted to my chair. There are articles on how to add velcro to the stick sliding surface to change it’s stiffness to your liking. I set up the buttons to emulate the real collective and even the hidden trigger, works great.

I use a set of CH rudder pedals with the springs removed and a slight modification as shown, these work out great

It’s sort of primitive but works great for the helicopter and increases control immensely. Check out Ebay you can find these items from time to time for a really cheap deal. Hope the photos help clear up what I’m attempting to explain.

The multi-player 4YA caucus training server usually has several Huey pilots in game. Last night we had a flight of 12 running the river between Senaki and Kutasi. It was a lot of fun.
