That minty green, murky wake seems to trail more than a mile behind the carrier. Im sure that is useful for a visual reference when lining up on final. Can it be implimented?

By I think, the actual ship wake has only a JPG, Png, etc put into DCS to simulate wave pattern effect. ED dont build a correct Kelvin Wave Pattern.

A proper wake would be great, the old one we've had for ages and there are parts of it that just don't look natural

The wakes of all the ships need an overhaul! IRL, from tens of thousands of feet up and miles away, the wakes are usually the first thing you see of a ship.

The wake we had at the Hornet's initial release wasn't terrible, then somewhere along the line the wake became more invisible. The wake is the only reference we have for setting up proper separation on a CASE I initial, and I can't bloody see the thing at all in VR. "But there's TACAN." The deviation bar doesn't give enough precision for you to get your lateral separation from the ship. The deviation bar's position when you're 500' starboard of the ship is the same as when you're 2000' starboard of the ship.

Yea, I had no issue with that wake. As a matter of fact it looked great compared to some other recent flight sims... in one of them it looked like a shimmering zigzag.

yeah, I wonder why the wake was removed / reduced. It needs to be reverted back to the Hornets early days.

The actual ship Wave has a effect present from 1.2.X version 5+ years ago. I think that has only have cosmetic changes and some improvement when EDGE coming some years ago...

4 years ago 1.2.16

1.5 (2015)

2.1 (2017)

On 2.5 has been improved.

the trails of the ships in DCS 2.5 has not been improved , theyhave disappeared…

In DCS 2.1 they were more visible than now ...

How can we return at least to the visible trails of version 2.1?

they should be much whiter than they appear

Or am I just not seeing them anymore?:-)

Ok the problem is the foam effect...

a warship launched at 30 knots leaves a very visible white wake ...

You have to replace this file (unzipped) to ...:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Bazar\Effects\ParticleSystem2

Hey this looks really good. Looking forward to trying it out when I get home. Just out of curiosity, was it difficult to modify?

Here's a couple of shots that show how strong the wake is in close and how far away you can see it. I hope to see wake effects like this modeled as it definitely made it easier in the early days of the Hornet to judge the pattern.
