American Red Tracers for the Viper

I wanted to ask to see if the F-16 would have the option of using red bullet tracers? I've been a little confused why yellow has been the only color selection for tracers in American planes on DCS, except the F-14. Since WW2, I've only ever seen pictures and film of red tracers fired from American weapons, aircraft and vehicles. I would like the option to choose red, while leaving the original yellow color for those who prefer that. Just a tiny little bit of extra immersion :)

Just in case :

You can edit the word "yellow" and turn it into "red" for an ammunition in shell_table.lua, and then it's red. (not very visible in picture but it is)

 

But it's only a mod for SP enjoying (you can't join multiplayer with a modified file like that)

Good to know! I only fly multiplayer, however. I like getting in gunfights so the color is very apparent. I don't wanna turn it into a rainbow color competition of bullets flying around, I just like the added level of authenticity ^_^

Go with the No Tracer option if you want to be authentic.

I'm referring to the authenticity of color of tracer, for when they are used in game, not the lack thereof. The US has widely used red tracers in aircraft and that is what I'm wishing for. When I do use the tracers, I'd like them to be red in a US aircraft, and when I want to go with the more realistic option I'll use no tracers. I'm discussing this in the light that tracers are used by most players, including myself.

That is probably because the developers are russians. Russia and other eastern european countries uses yellow tracers that looks very much like those we have in DCS.

The default ammo is SAPHEI without tracers. From the mission editor or the rearming menu you can select HEI-T ammo which does have tracers. There's also a selection of training ammo that also has tracers.

Will we ever be able to choose armor piercing with tracers ammo, or is that not realistic?

AFAIK M242 HEI-T should have a red/orange tracer ('T' has an orange marking), PGU-28 A/B SAPHEI shouldn't have a tracer, PGU-30 A/B TP-T should have I'm guessing an orange tracer. There is also the M220 TP-T which I believe also has an orange tracer (going by the colour of the 'T' marking.

 

 

Somebody correct me if I'm using the wrong ammunition for the F-16's M61A1

Can't you somehow just use Heatblur's M-61 effects/tracers from their Tomcat and change some code for the Viper to use those? Much more accurate.
