Emmer Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 (edited) Russia sells 36 Yak-130 to Syria Russia to Sell 36 Yak-130 Jets to Syria. Russia and Syria have signed a $550-million contract on the delivery of 36 Yakovlev Yak-130 Mitten combat trainer, the Kommersant daily quoted on Monday a source close to Russia’s state arms exporter Rosoboronexport as saying. primus_TR Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 IMHO, using "words" - especially big ones - to express intentions is laughable and counterproductive in diplomacy. Iranians' having said that they would was a sure sign that they cannot/will not take any steps to block oil tanker traffic through the strait.

mikoyan Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Just interesting video. Actually sad; I speak spanish and to me, the peruvian pilots seem trigger happy; They also could not understand the american agents correctly; at one point the american said that the airplane didn't fit the profile; that phase 3 was not necessary but the peruvian pilots understood incorrectly the contrary; then the american agents dropped the ball and said " if you are sure then go ahead"; That video also shows that the CIA agents don't command or dictate what is done; like most people believe in South America; well at least that is the impression that I get from this unfortunate video. Peru's Air Force used to deploy tucanos, dragoflys and su-25s for that type of missions; last thing I heard was that thy were asked not to continue shooting down airplanes.
aaron886 Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 The CIA guys apparently were not in control. They made a recommendation, clearly and vocally, to not shoot the aircraft. They let the Peruvians do what they wanted. (It's their country, isn't it?) Not sure if you're "blaming" the CIA controllers, but I don't think that's appropriate.

AlphaOneSix Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Wait 1, they were tracking the plane and gave the order to fire! They were tracking the plane, yes. They did not give any order to fire, unless you interpret "well okay if you're sure, then go ahead" as an order.
Vekkinho Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 (edited) This is an example of serious protocol violation, if there is a protocol with FAP. No tailcoding, no attempts of contact thru open channel, no visual signals given to pilot of misfortunate plane to follow and land, no warning shots. Plane was flying steady, no evasive maneuvers by pilot, I wonder what made it seem "dirty"... Edited January 25, 2012 by Vekkinho [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
