speckfire Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 I love that gold tint..Please do not change it ED or make another version avail Speed is life !!!
razo+r Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 The question is not do you like it, the question is, is it realistic?
Fri13 Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 The gold tinting comes from the fine metal net embedded inside the canopy glass to protect the pilot from powerful radio frequencies, mainly the radar emissions. And as well lower the RCS so the radar energy doesn't get inside and bounce from the large flat interior. i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
ivo Posted October 5, 2019 Author Posted October 5, 2019 The F-16C/D also introduced the gold-tinted canopies. These were designed to reduce the radar cross-section of the F-16, especially head-on. The concept was to present an adversary with a smaller radar cross-section so that an enemy radar wouldn’t detect the F-16 until it was much closer, and in a head-on intercept, this was critical. In the early days of the F-16C/D, these canopies were in high demand to retrofit the F-16A/B fleet, but today, many of the F-16C/Ds are trading their gold-tinted canopies for clear to operate with NVGs. cpu:I7-6700k Z170 16GB Ram DDR4 Gtx 1080 8Gb DDR5 11GBs SSD 500 Gb 2 HDD 1Tb Evga supernova G2 850w Case Bequiet series 800 Silent base Win 10 pro 64 bit My wishlist: F-35/B-17G/F4U Corsair/Yak-3/P-40B Tomahawk
billeinstein Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 I'm curious how it looks like from inside through this golden cannopy. Is the world yellowed? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
razo+r Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 It will be yellowed from the moment you are in but after a while you get used to it and it wil look "normal".
SkateZilla Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Canopy Tint is Realistic as is. SonofEil Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 I personally find the canopy more of a "spicy mustard" or dirty yellow than gold. It may be missing some lighting effects or something to really sell it. i7 7700K @5.0, 1080Ti, 32GB DDR4, HMD Odyssey, TM WH, Crosswind Rudder...
pimp Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 I love it as is, but it does look yellowy instead of gold. I think the AI blk52 has a gold canopy. i9 14900k @5.6GHz NZXT Kraken |Asus ROG Strix Z790 A-Gaming | Samsung NVMe m.2 990 Pro 2TB | 64GB DDR5 6400MHz EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra | PiMAX CRYSTAL LIGHT | HOTAS Warthog | Saitek Flight Pedals
Mad Dog 7.62 Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 According to Jake Melampy's Viper Guide, there have been various different tints used on the Viper. On a D you can even find differences front to back. Maverick87Shaka Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Gold in "general" is not a problem, and if it's the realistic one for the version that ED done, it's sure a plus, but it's don't look cool at the moment. I think it's appear to much yellow colored instead have only the "light reflection". I think ED need to write a custom shader for that to meed the today standard. dmatt76 Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 The funny thing is that the F-16 on the title screen has a clear glass. Maybe it is going to be an option later on...?
Bagpipe Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 ... but today, many of the F-16C/Ds are trading their gold-tinted canopies for clear to operate with NVGs. The question i would be asking is "are block 50s currently in use today?". If not, then why would ED change the simulated block 50? EDIT i am not saying they are not i personally don't know but i thought they were on block 70 by now?
Slug72 Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 The question i would be asking is "are block 50s currently in use today?". If not, then why would ED change the simulated block 50? The Block 50 is still in active service with the USAF/ANG. However ED have chosen to model a USAF post-CCIP Block 50 from 2007 for reasons of accuracy due to available data. i am not saying they are not i personally don't know but i thought they were on block 70 by now? An F-16V Block 70/72 is available to order from LM, but (a) so far it's only been ordered by export customers and (b) performance details of the AN/APG-83 AESA radar and upgraded MMC will be highly classified. i9-9900K @5GHz, Z390 Aorus Pro, 32GB DDR4-3200MHz, EVGA RTX 2080Ti FTW3 Ultra, Seasonic Focus+ Platinum 850W PSU, TM Warthog HOTAS, CH Pro pedals, 2x MFD's, MT deskmounts, Asus 32" 1440p display, EDTracker Pro Wireless, HP Reverb
