The Ka-50 may turn out to be even more detailed than the Su-25T!

http://www.sunnncho.pochta.ru/KA_50.html

this is not ED's model. this web site belongs to freelancer 3D modeller, who showing his skills to public in order to find good employer. He has no relations to ED.

Ah, Thanks for the clarification Dmut. I was at the russian side of the forums surfing through the pages in an attempt to find any new info or pictures, and Came upon that link. Course I have no idea of what they were saying, so I just supposed that it was "our" Ka-50.

Anyway, That model IS impressive. If he is a freelance 3d modellers, and is wanting to get picked up, why dont you? His work is pretty dang nice.

Me? I'm not from ED staff :)

Anyway, I think ED saw that site and if this guy is still looking for a job, may be he is not so good or may be he is asking for a too big salary, who knows?

The problem is that the model has exceeded the count of polygons for sim. With our artists estimation that model has more then 100 000 polys. It’s not acceptable for sim yet.

Our model will look excellent too. ;)

Doesnt have anything to do with you not picking him up though. I think he could do a great deal if he was involved with the Devs. With primary resources like That, just imagine what could be done..

But see Kuosta that is another expense to them to pay him...I think what they are doing right now is smart by letting the community do it FOR FREE! just becuase they want to help...They already have a few modelers anyway they aren't really short of them...

ED should release all the models for download so those who wants to make improvements to the plane could...instead of building a entire new model. For example the most models needs some improvements on the nose, however the rest of the aircraft looks ok. All a person has to do is patch up the nose a little and let it fly.

the reason they shouldn't be doing that is if models are released online...everyone can get them..make little changes to them and put them in as their work in other sims...*cough*falcon***cough* . :p. Thats why ED are smartly keeping their work and instead of directly releasing a 3dsmax plugin for their models...they are converting them on their own.

Man oh man, that model is just down right SEXY.

So sleek, it looks like its going mach 2 even in those screenshots. The canopy is even looking nice, please make it as reflective and detailed as the hornets!

I think there should still be an option for a third party modder to 'ask' for an existing 3d model, like the F-15 or the Tornado IDS, so that they can easily convert them into a related model, like the F-15E and Tornado ADV, without starting from scratch.

BTW, great Flanker. Can't wait to smack that with an AIM-120 ;)

Nicely done!!

Been away from LOMAC for about a month, and your work is bringing me back!!

I have just installed 3dsmax7 on my PC, but it's VERY slow.

My spec is GeForceMX400, is this the problem?

All 3D apps are pretty CPU-hungry, MX400 shouldn't be too slow unless you're working with multi-million polygon models. I, for one, use 8Mb PCI card with Permedia2 chip and it spins the objects in viewport smoothly (even with 100K+ poly models) - with Barton 2500. Besides, you don't have to use 3DMax to model - there are free modellers out there - Blender, Silo, Wings.

Oops, Silo isn't free really.

I think, all the free modeling-progs haven't enough possibilities to modeling really good. I used blender long time ago and i was surprised as i start to work with max and maya. It takes less times to do excactly the same as in blender and look much better. Much more ways of modeling (Nurbs, Box-modeling, Spline-caged) and more and better plugins like compound-plugs, modeling-tools and so on.

If someone really wanna model in a serious way commercial products are the only way to make nearly all possible.

Don't believe me? Than just try a model like that in Blender ;)

Here the model:
