RichardG
Why don't you load the old pit (I cant now after the update), and turn all cockpit lights on (except emergency flood). Screenshot it. Then compare it to this new pit. Oh, and emergency floodlight doesnt work in this new pit. Or its so dim I cant see it.
sc_neo
The lighting is very dim on my end as well. I fired up the nttr landing quick start mission and turned every light and backlight to it's max and the cockpit stayed very dark.

ex81
Yes, the issue of a brand new factory cockpit was just a matter of time :) But I think the community will soon put some weathering over that new car smell :) The new layout is bigger issue for me. The bottom handles of the seat are in the line of sight of many switches. I cannot see APU anymore without changing the camera. It was made for VR/Track IR. absolutly right ! Let`s go one step back. ex81
Well, i don't like this sterile look but that is personal preference and i don't think it's an issue as hopefully modders will came to the rescue. The real problem here is the HUD, can't see a full hud anymore in 2D, both top/bottom and left right. You can even see it in ED screenshot on Facebook. Yes, you can move the camera forward and then zoom out to try and "recenter" the HUD but it's not the same. For someone that flies almost only in the A10, this is a very sad day! I agree ! The HUD is the reall problem now, I hope they fix it soon. What goes up, must come down ! dcs76
The lighting is very dark. Especially in VR at night - I am faced with total blackness and am even unable to find the emergency flood light switch. Even after I enabled emergency flood light, the other buttons cannot be found like it was possible with the old cockpit. gamma is at 2.2. See attached screenshots. 1st one shows me looking at the area where the emergency flood light switch is supposed to be. 2nd one is after I activated the switch (after 30 seconds of frenzied clicking around). For comparison I added the same views/settings form the current DCS stable version. Also the bank indicator and steering bars in the ADI are not illuminated, no matter how far I crank the interior lighting knobs. I posted this in bug section. ED Team NineLine Posted December 18, 2019 ED Team Share Posted December 18, 2019 I know there is a difference in the old and new one as far as the night lighting, but I will have to ask if this is by design, I think it looks much better, but the old one is brighter. ED Team NineLine Posted December 18, 2019 ED Team Share Posted December 18, 2019 This is what I am seeing in comparison between new and old for the HUD. This is straight in, no adjustments besides a slight zoom on the new one to match the views on the old one. Thanks for the update guys! I really really enjoy it!! just a clarification, is this version the updated one you mentioned here or that will come as retail version? if this is it, what are you planning for the retail version later (apart from the weathered look)? TheSkipjack95
Is that HUD rendering gonna stay like that ? Liking the new pit so far (text is finally easily legible), but I feel I need to stuff my face in the HUD glass to see all the info on there, seems very odd to me. Can't think of another plane where that is an issue, so to speak. Can the SMEs confirm the HUD is rendered right ?
sc_neo
The eyepoint has been moved 5cm foward and 10cm upwards to account somewhat for a real humans neck. And to accomodate for that change they had to move the default player position a bit backwards. Now the HUD behaves like it should, like a real collimated HUD as far as i understand it at least. I guess this warrants round two on the discussion on what a real pilot sees when sitting in the relaxed position resting his back on the seat's back cussion. Last thing i heard was that pilots have to lean forward a bit to have the HUD in good view when doing gun runs.

TheSkipjack95
I'll see if I can get some feedback, but doesnt really feel bad to me right now. Thanks. Personally I think that the downward visibility is rather great as is, but by default the right side, with its waypoint info etc, is clipped by the HUD frame, which is rather bizarre, and the horizon line, backup pipper and often the TVV (on takeoff for instance) is fully hidden. I guess it's not an issue for the VR/TIr folks, but might prove reaaaaally annoying for the others, and it doesn't match the behaviour of any HUD I can think of, besides perhaps the Viggen. All others display all the info on the glass at a glance. I think it might be cause the HUD is rendered too close to the glass ? Font also looks huge, so maybe it's just the HUD not collimating to infinity like the others. Vague and subjective feedback FTW, but if that could be looked into, that'd be grand. VAF [136] Striker
I just wanted to thank you guys for the beautiful work on the A-10C cockpit. As someone that spends most of my time in it, I'm very happy to have this free update. I would like to add that it does look a little newish but as you posted 9line, there will be a weathered version in the future. The only thing I would say is that I was used to the overly bright panel lights and now they're pretty dim in comparison. I'm sure I'll get used to it but it would be nice if they were a little brighter, just my opinion anyhow. Thanks again! Then apply weathering to it and add it as extra livery for those who need to fly older aircraft. Possibilities are to offer mint, slightly weared and then old... dmatt76
I'll see if I can get some feedback, but doesnt really feel bad to me right now. The view is not bad if you have Track IR or VR, but with a mouse and buttons only you have to do a lot of stuff now to see HUD or just the APU switch. The seat with its handles block view to some switches. It may be realistic but it makes Track IR an obligatory hardware to fly the Hog now ;)
