DCS: Fw 190 A-8 Skin Contest

For those of you that enjoy painting skins for your favourite aircraft, this contest is for you! Using the official template found here, we are holding a paint the Anton contest. We will choose the top 10 (or so) best submissions. If your submission is chosen, you will have your name added to the DCS: Fw 190 A-8 Anton credits, and your work will be included with the Fw 190 A-8. You will also receive one free copy of the upcoming DCS: Channel Map.

 

Here are some of the requirements and details:

• The skin must be created using this template.
  
• The skin can be historically accurate or fictional. However, the skin must be associated with one of the countries currently present in DCS World.
  
• Please do not use nazi swastika.
  

 

Here are instructions for saving textures with MIP levels using NVIDIA Texture Tools for Adobe Photoshop.

 

Please upload completed skins tothis dedicated topic.

 

The contest will run until February 16th, 2020.

1. What settings should be used if the intel .dds photoshop plugin is used? Quite a lot of DCS skinners use this plugin.

I will introduce you the SNCAC NC-900 type A8, the french version of the Anton 8.

 

 

At the end 1944, after the liberation of France, a Luftwaffe underground repair shop, completely sheltered from reconnaissance planes and allied bombers, was discovered in Cravant (Yonne)

 

 

To equip the reviving air force, the French State transformed this workshop, integrated it into the Société nationale des constructions aéronautiques du Centre (SNCAC) under the name of Atelier Aéronautique de Cravant (AACR), and decided to complete the construction of a hundred of these aircraft under the designation NC.900.

 

 

The plane was put into service within the Normandie Niémen squadron on February 1st, 1946. Unfortunately, sabotage of BMW 801 D2 engines was successfull and perfectly hidden that the manufacturer Voisin, in charge of their repair, had the greatest difficulty in providing functional copies.

 

On November 1st, 1946, the aircraft was permanently decommissioned and removed from inventory. All the devices are scrapped, except one (n°62) which had been sold to the Musée de l'Air et de l'Espace of Le Bourget, where it is exhibited in hall 5 "Second World War".

I have two issues:

When I go to export a .DDS in DXT5, there is no option offering "explicit alpha". There is only a DXT5 offering a normal map format, and "DXT 5 ARGB 8bpp interpolated alpha"

Is this format acceptable?

 

Also, what is this implying, and what separate files are needed to fully see the Anton template?
