If I remember right, a "longbow" does not have to have the mast on the rotor. Longbow referes more to the avionics and flight systems within the helicopter. I have some pics of longbows from when I was in the army and they were using Kiowa Warriors for their eyes. They did not have the mast, but they were still considered longbows.

i thought that was the Lonbow radar... oh well, so Longbow means the avionics then...

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

No, the Longbow is the radar, but not all AH-64Ds were bought with it (costs cutting) and second: that radar is not mounted when it's not needed (right now - most of the time ;) ), this cuts maintenance hours, and stretching that equipment service life.

I did some research and I was kind of wrong. lol

The multi-mission AH-64D Apache Longbow is the next-generation version of original AH-64A Apache. With its fire-control radar, the aircraft is known as the AH-64D Apache Longbow. Without the radar, the combat-proven aircraft is called the AH-64D Apache.

Both are D models, so same internal set up, but the addition of the radar actually does give it the name Longbow. Sorry for the misunderstanding on my part. :) There are some other additions to the longbow you can see from the link below.

BTW I got this information here.....

so i wsa right the first time then... the D means the Avionics and then ... so ED could have the AH64D in the game just without the Longbow... but if they do the A aswel then we could have proper Hunter Killer tactics.

Notice two interesting things on this AH-64DJP - 1. the new Arrowhead PNVS/TADS; and 2. the ATALs on wingtips.
