therion_prime Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 To shorten the wait for BS and to brush up my non existant helicopter skillz, what other realistic heli sims can you recommend? My DCS movies:
Avimimus Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 I very good patch was released for EECH. Long Bow 2 is also supposed to be good and Gunship! is amusing at times. Operation Flashpoint can also be fun - the FM is terrible but, with the right mods, there exist nicely reactive infantry.
empeck Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 I'm flying FSX helicopters. Right now it's Nemeth Brothers CH-53, and default Bell 206. It's not a combat sim, but 'just' flying is great too :) And welcome everybody, since it's my first post here.
Malleus Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Well you probably won't find anything as realistic as BS is going to be, but most people would suggest Enemy Engaged: Commanche Hokum 1.9 or LongBow 2 - although neither one is easy to acquire, because they are quite old games. I only played EECH from that two. It's a 1999(?) game that had its source code released later and is being upgraded ever since by fans. It looks great, have a dynamic campaign engine, and fairly realistic. Current flyables are Mi-28, RAH-66, AH-64 and Ka-52. Every other helo is flyable too, they just don't have a cockpit.

therion_prime Posted October 17, 2007 Author Posted October 17, 2007 Thanks for the responses. I'm a bit confused about EECH. On this website they have a EE Apache vs. Havoc and a Comanche vs. Hokum. Then There is this site where they speak about EECH2. Now if the CH in EECH means Comanche and Hokum, why is it called EECH2 and not EECH1 and EECH1 EEAH? Or can you fly the Comanche and Hokum in EECH1, too? Then why isn't it called EECHAH ? In short: 1) Forget the things i said above that came from my twisted mind, influenced by mild inebriation. 2) There is EECH1 and EECH2, right? 3) Which one is the one you're talking about, and oviously is better? thx My DCS movies:
Malleus Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 EEAH - first game with apache and havok EECH - sequel with commanche and hokum, mods are available for this at eechcentral. also, you can merge this game with EEAH - this is teh goodness EE2 (or EECH2) - forget about it :)

There is talk of a patch coming for Enemy Engaged 2. It apparently won't fix all of the problems, but will address a lot of them. Let's see how it goes! Its a nice helo and I like the procedures for start etc... Though it is a little bit boring to fly from point a to point b. I want to fly missions. Thanks to upcoming Acceleration Pack it has missions to fly with the Merlin helo. Trying to fly online in formation is great fun too :) Missions in default FSX are good practice, I can land on helipad on the top of building, but I can't do this on moving yacht yet :music_whistling: I hope flying in FSX will help me fly BS :joystick:
Nordic Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Just for flying: many freeware heli's for FS2004 http://www.hovercontrol.com Payware Bell 206 http://www.dodosim.com/
Sundowner.pl Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 If one want to fly helicopters - right now go for FSX, or... FS2004 with Dodo's Advanced Bell 206 (can't beat that, it's the ultimate helicopter flying experience available!) If you want to shoot something... well, Jane's Longbow 2, but it's old, troublesome to install, to run, to play... and it won't work at all on Vista. If you want to fly in packs with your friends, go for Enemy Engaged 1.9, but the avionics are almost nonexistent, and the flight model is... well... funny. GGTharos Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 If you want to do -all- of the above .. wait for Black Shark :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Ditch3r Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 If you want to do -all- of the above .. wait for Black Shark :D  https://www.youtube.com/@ditch3rgames
Piffer Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 If you want better graphics go for EECH2, if you want better avionics modelling get EECH1 and install the latest mods. The EE2 graphics are new, but not necessarily better. The models are very poor. Compare: http://vootatico.com/?p=274 http://vootatico.com
Ratgnagna Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 In difficulty mode in FSX, its too very difficulte... Is it realy realist flight model? Or it's a mistake beetween airplane flight model and Chooper flight model level adjustment? Sorry for my poor english... :helpsmilie: Bye! ;)
Sundowner.pl Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 It is actually realistic, yet still easier then the real life (no LTE phenomena and engine lag, that are simulated in DoDo's Bell 206 add-on). Heh, as I said EECHAH, or even better EECvH'n'AvH :megalol: Ok, for now I'll just reinstall FSX and do the training missions, and maybe check out EECH(AH :P) later. Hope this helps for a BS "quickstart". Thanks everybody! My DCS movies:
The_GOZR Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 I'll will be so curious with black shark.. With FSX the problem is there are no two engines design for helicos so it was real hard for me to cheat FSX engine but the result is still great and much better than the stock version now all this will change and i'll be working quite hard on the new FM since Acceleration new addon will correct this problem and a dual engine prop turbine will be possible.. i'm very exited about this. Running software to add real weather movements, air mass hot cold and great clouds.. I 'm waiting for Black shark with impatience as well i'll be ready to test all it can offer..
The_GOZR Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 The big advantage of Black Shark is that you will fly with loaded weapons :)
Ratgnagna Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Hey The_GOZR! Where do you found MI-24 for FSX? Does the KA-50 exist for FSX? :) Sorry for my poor english... :helpsmilie: Bye! ;)
Esac_mirmidon Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 I think for FSX the KA-50 no. " You must think in russian.." [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Windows 7 Home Premium-Intel 2500K OC 4.6-SSD Samsung EVO 860- MSI GTX 1080 - 16G RAM - 1920x1080 27´ Hotas Rhino X-55-MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals -Track IR 4
