[RESOLVED] Can't engage PAL

I think PAL, the ACM mode where the radar diamond sweeps side to side? For some reason, under circumstances that I'm still trying to figure out, hitting the PAL mode button doesn't engage it. VSL high and low still seems to work in the instances PAL doesn't.

 

Is anyone else noticing this?

Yeaht this happens when you hear a clicking sound from the back as if jester is pressing a button continuously canceling the ACM modes. I thinks it is trigger if you pick manual radar elevation or azimuth and then select auto elevation and azimuth from jester menu

Not manual auto elevation,it's TWS,it continues clicking to cancel the ACM mod even if you didn't switch it on.

If you have GUN selected you will not see the ACM mode symbology, but it is still working in the background. Switch to SW or SP/PH to see the diamond on the HUD. VSL Hi will not show because it is scanning above the HUD.

PAL won't work when jester in going crazy with the clicking in the back. It comes on for a sec then it just goes back to TWS-A. I was able to go to PAL or get jester to stt lock a target. The radar is broken until they fix it or roll back the TWS-A update. If they don't have a fix, I wish they would just roll back the update so I can use my plane for more than just tanking and carrier landing practice

Yes it happens when TWS A goes bonkers if you previously asked jester to change azimuth or elevation scan. To avoid this for now, do not ask jester to manually scan both any elevation or azimuth, just leave it as it is. You can ask jester to set TWS mode during initial startup, but thats about it, otherwise he will conflict with TWS A once a phoenix is fired. We shall wait for a fix from heatblur.

I believe simply ordering him to use TWS will cause him to use manual TWS. There is no selector for the auto.

No,you've no choice on this option but trigger the Jester's crazy click and ruin the firing soultion.

I think you can replicate this issue even when starting out in TWS-Man, giving the az / elev commands (check to see if Jester is in TWS-Man), and then firing a phoenix. Key mashing starts immediately.

About the ACM radar scan Diamond not showing when there's a weapon Selected is this by design or is it a bug?

It won't show when the gun is selected, bu it should show with aim9/7/54 selected. If it's not I believe that's a bug.

Can you be more descriptive? Normally it's user error or lack of knowledge that some modes won't show the diamond by design.

I'm in A2A HUD Mode with all weapons turned on and selected (not gun which doesn't show PAL). Whenever I select PAL mode or any of the vertical scan modes Jester will click something in the background and nothing will happen.

You've mistaken PAL for PLM. Check your binds.

VSL High won't show you the scan pattern as it's off the HUD. Also SW selected reserves the diamond for the target. PLM - no diamond either.

I don't think he's wrong.

I just had this bug, after launching Phoenix's Jester refuses to leave TWS auto. 

PLM, PAL, none of them take it out of TWS Auto. With the control indicator up I can see it's not changing.

Sure it's good to stay in TWS for a Phoenix to track, but with a popup target at 25nm I need to switch to self defense mode and take control but he doesn't let me.
