markturner1960 Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 Hi, what is the best way to generate decent looking clouds in the sim? All I have come across lately is a pretty weedy layer of very light clouds. I see we have dynamic weather now, whats the best way to use the features this version currently has to get the visuals looking nicer? Thanks System specs: PC1 :Scan 3XS Ryzen 5900X, 64GB Corsair veng DDR4 3600, EVGA GTX 3090 Win 10, Quest Pro, Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor.
Bobik2002 Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 I think wait for new weather system. Ryzen 9 5900x | 32GB DDR4 | RTX 3090 | 32GB RAM
twistking Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 I think wait for new weather system. i'm afraid that's true. My improved* wishlist after a decade with DCS *now with 17% more wishes compared to the original
CommandT Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 Any info on when they are planning on implementing this? The current one is really lacking.
Gryzor Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 Sincerelly, I think that ED doesn´t have programmers with the necessary skills to develop new clouds, appart of performance disaster seen patch after patch (beta or non beta)... the clouds were promised by 2019. 6 month after without any new (I remember Kate saying that were start working in May

markturner1960 Posted June 6, 2020 Author Posted June 6, 2020 So.....how do you get the best from what we currently have? System specs: PC1 :Scan 3XS Ryzen 5900X, 64GB Corsair veng DDR4 3600, EVGA GTX 3090 Win 10, Quest Pro, Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor.
NoJoy Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 (edited) I think the question was not about how to get better looking clouds but instead how to set the weather system to get a cool looking cloudy sky. Tough I don't have great skills in setting the right parameters for a cloudy weather system within the dynamic weather settings - i'm quite sure there are some good threads around here, youtube vids and scripts to download in the userfiles section. Main thing would be to select 'dynamic weather' in the ME. Then set at least 2 systems with one high pressure and one low pressure system. Problem is that the standard radius for each system is far too huge and therefore overlapping each other over the whole map. But that's already leading too far by now... Just have a look here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/search/?tags=dynamic%20weather Here is a very detailed video about setting dynamic weather: Edited June 6, 2020 by AnimalMother711 Brrrrrrrrrrrt I'd rather call in a Strike Eagle... Northstar98 Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 In all honesty setting the density to >= 9 is really the best you can get, just so long as you're okay with having a solid layer. I've never really played around with dynamic weather but I might have a bit of a play with it later. ED Team Glowing_Amraam Posted June 6, 2020 ED Team Posted June 6, 2020 While we wait for new and improved clouds, I usually use these settings. :) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgJRhtnqA-67pKmQ3A2GsgA ED youtube channel https://www.facebook.com/glowingamraam My facebook page
webweaver40 Posted June 7, 2020 Posted June 7, 2020 Move the cloud quality slider all the way to the msfs2020 setting :) Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

JIMJAM Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 I have zero knowledge about the programming issues, compatabilities etc but licensing the other companies that have been making very advanced weather and incredible graphics for the other simulations for decades may be a solution. I would not flinch to pay extra for a cloud, texture weather engine made for DCS.
markturner1960 Posted June 10, 2020 Author Posted June 10, 2020 Me too!! Thanks for everyones input! System specs: PC1 :Scan 3XS Ryzen 5900X, 64GB Corsair veng DDR4 3600, EVGA GTX 3090 Win 10, Quest Pro, Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor.

Gryzor Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 And superbVR adaptation, superbfps module, superbnographicserrors, superNoStuttering, superbtwoweeksVulkan... I would be happy to throw at ED alot of $$$!!!
JIMJAM Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 I probably spent $2000+ just on payware for M$ last 3 versions and that doesn't include joysticks/hardware etc. I don't think there was anything vanilla left. A certain Orb..'s airports I spent over $500 A wipe and reload took a entire day
