Hi, as I am on a pretty steep learning curve with the Hornet & DCS currently, I am finding lots of situations where it would be great if you could pause whats happening and still interact with the cockpit......like its possible in " The other sim"....;)

Can you do this in DCS? If not, thats a big opportunity missed as its super helpful until you get proficient and can do the stuff by rote........

You cannot pause what is happening, but you can freeze yourself in space and still move the switches. It is called Active Pause. you may be able to activate it using LShift + LWin + Pause, but it can change per module. You can change it to an easier keybinding too. Just search for "Active Pause" in the controls.

OK, found the command for the Hornet, its: lleft shift, left windows plus pause, but......having issues getting that keybound? My keyboard does not have a left windows button, it does have a right windows button though....and could only find pause break.

when I try and assign the keys in DCS, the left shifT appears in the modifier box, and right windows appears as thats what I pressed. I can change this from the dropdown in modifiers to left windows, but cant get pause break to register at all.

Any ideas? Is it possible to change the assigned binding to something easier to assign that is not being used ellsewhere?

Thanks!

sure, you can change any assignments to anything you want, including joystick buttons

You can assign any command to any key you want. Delete the default keybind, then with the correct column (keyboard if you want it to be done with keys) selected, click Add (or maybe it was called Create, I forget) and then press the key you want. DCS will warn you if that key is being used, and if it is you can just try another.

Awaiting: DCS F-15C

Be sure to arm your ejection seat and watch your fuel state while on active pause. The airplane doesn't move but everything works so also your engines...

So if you run out of fuel while on active pause and then you unpause...

Because active pause only pauses you and everything else is still going on, I often find it better to use decelerate time. As that will slow down everything giving you time to think and search for stuff. You can also click stuff in cockpit while time is slowed.

Slowing down too much doesn't let you click buttons btw. It does but takes too long for buttons to respond. Slowing down 2-4 times ususally is best.
