MAXsenna Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 @RWCCool pics, hope you didn't piss the residents off too much! Just kidding. Saw it from the other side of the fjord from Kolsåstoppen, but too far for any pictures. Sent from my MAR-LX1A using Tapatalk 1
Admiral189 Posted May 26, 2023 Author Posted May 26, 2023 RWC those are some beautiful photos of USS Gerald Ford. Really nice!! One thing about carriers. They never travel anywhere without a submarine which is what you never see. You may see her escort but not the Submarine. She's always well-protected. The more I look at her the more I want to create a mod of her. We'll see! We have a lot of warships in DCS but not Harbor Patrol boats. We will have some soon. https://i.postimg.cc/J4FjJQCs/Digital-Combat-Simulator-Black-Shark-Screenshot-2023-05-25-21-03-40-97.png 6

My Great-Uncle was on a carrier from '42. Arctic, Russian convoys, some nasty stuff. I can still hear him saying '60ft waves" and see the face he'd pull when talking about the cold. I have to say, you've gone far and above earning your username and the monumental fleet you've put together really is 'admirable'. Good to read everybody buzzing trying to keep up with what you do. Personally, I've barely learnt to fly a few modules, spent a mad all-nighter going around in circles in a Tomcat on a carrier and am looking forward to getting around to the naval side of things. This thread stinks like Pompey Dockyard, not bad going. I have plotted an old carrier and a few bits with the ME from the WW1 stuff. Since my Great-Uncle was on a converted Carrier, that old thing looks pretty close to 'his ship' but if I had the knowhow, I'd be modelling it myself. Well, I say his but as he pointed out to me when I'd call it his ship, "It was the Royal Navys ship, I didn't own it". - I wont beg for requests, yet , think I read somewhere you're more interested in the modern stuff which is fair enough, may have been somebody else? Either way, good to see what you're doing. :ships whistle Edited May 29, 2023 by Slippa Correction 1

But the size it was amazed me most. She is so big, it is crazy. You can see so well compared on the light house picture how inmensly long she is. After all the talk about her, i was in shock really to see her in the Oslo fjord. I never would have thought or even expected that, since they keep the courses of warships mostly secret. I really wanted to share this excitement with all our friends on here. It is a unique experience .... Thank you for letting me share it with you. P.S. About the harbor patrol boats : Aren't harbor patrols carried out mostly by the coast guards type of ships, like the ones from your main page ? Eventhough they are US Coast guards, these models are a great base to start with and most modern to carry out the task. With some different liveries on these models, i think you would fill up this gap already, Sir. RWC. Edited May 26, 2023 by RWC 2 1

Admiral189 Posted May 26, 2023 Author Posted May 26, 2023 The US Navy has patrol boats as well which is what I'm working on. You will see them in most US and Overseas Navy bases. US Coast Guard is mostly coastal patrol. https://i.postimg.cc/5tKHfp34/Digital-Combat-Simulator-Black-Shark-Screenshot-2023-05-26-18-48-09-11.png 3 1

Being a Capt of a ship is definitely a humbling job! Very exciting screenshots ! Looking forward to have tese ships sailing ! Thanks Admiral ! 1
Admiral189 Posted May 27, 2023 Author Posted May 27, 2023 (edited) Thanks, GUFA. The Cyclone Class Patrol boat is high on my priority list. It should be done soon. The P336 has already been completed but has not been released. I can't find any of the other mods listed above. Sometimes it's hard to find good coastal patrol boast but I do have a lot of them to complete. From here on out. I will only post mods that intend to release within weeks. So the commercial mods will be released as soon as I finish the navigation lights. Unfortunately, I'm a one-man shipyard so I can only work on a couple of models at a time and that really depends on the nagging ailments I deal with. Thanks, Toan! Did a trip RAF/RN liaison out of a south coast base, where Admirals watch ships outgoing and check they are 'Dressed' correctly until quite some distance out. They stuck us on the flight deck with the lads, for AGES we were freezing and got a good soaking, but were warned not to move! lol. I was not a good sailor sadly. Did however get my Bosun's cert for the high speed launch in Ascencion Island so we could help out the RN with moving people and things around ships in the bay. Enjoyed that, always better when your driving and I never dropped anyone in the drink, alongside. Not bad for a Crabfat, Respects
Admiral189 Posted May 29, 2023 Author Posted May 29, 2023 (edited) Flyingscotsman so you have a good understanding of what some of us have been through but it was all worth it. Enjoyed every moment of it. Made me who I am today. Good Afternoon Everyone! OnReTach has granted me early access to test out the Suez Canal depths. I can tell you all that it's a very beautiful map with a lot of great detail. You all will enjoy flying around it. I can see some great missions will be created throughout the map. I'm not a flyer so I can't tell you much about the bases and airports but I can tell you there are quite a few they have added. The map is very beautiful at night with all the lights. Some areas in the channel are completely dark. I'm testing out ships' lighting now so you can at least see them transit the canal at night. My perspective of the Suez Canal. I get a clear picture of how long it takes these large ships to transit the canal. Each of the Cargo/Container/Tanker vessels takes quite a while to transit the canal at speeds no more than 15 kt. Something I learned today is that if you set the ships on a path. Be sure not to have any other ships near them or they will run aground and stop all traffic through the canal. Wonderful Map! They are still hard at work on it so what I see is not the finished product. The Alexandria, Egypt, and the Haifa. Israel harbors brought back memories of when I was there back in the early 90s onboard the USS Bowen FF-1079. This map will be my new playground to test out long-range missiles. I'm finishing up most of the AI DCS Commercial vessels for the Suez Canal. I'm hoping to release a hand full of them soon. Below are some of the many snapshots I have taken of the channel and the map. I have more but I don't want to flood the forum with photos. Thanks, OnReTech for granting me early access to the Map. I really appreciate it. Your Team has done a wonderful job of creating another wonderful Map to be used as a Playing field for all to enjoy!! Thanks so much! Edited May 29, 2023 by Admiral189 9

Nice "Container-Armada" BTW: bit OT but is it true that the smoke from chimney of ships are still missing by using MT ? ...and ship-smoke is present in ST but still no OverwingVapor effect on MiG-29A (running any mission after 1st mission ALL OverwingVapor effect dissapear (F-16, F-18, Mirage, A-10, J-11 etc.) ) ??? TY 1
Admiral189 Posted May 30, 2023 Author Posted May 30, 2023 Thanks, NRG-Vampire! Yes, it is still true. The last time I checked the smoke wasn't visible while playing in MT. It works well in ST. I will be removing the smoke from the Warship Stacks as we call them here in the US. I would rather the smoke be clear just like the exhaust from Jets because most Warships have Gas Turbine Engines. 5
