The L-39C would be a good replacement option. Check out this video I recently saw of a new comers view of DCS. At 11:00 minutes he talks about the SU-25T and mentions these very same points. The SUPER L-39 is out in USA with TFE-737-4 engine (3700 lbs) and a special pack exists with the TFE-731-5 (4.750lbs). The L-39NG and a STC package comes with the WILLIAMS FJ-44-4M engine (3700lbs thrust) but all of these have higher performance due to higher thrust or equal thrust as the original AI25 IVCHENKO but with 20 - 25% less fuel burn. Maybe it is programmable in DCS to make the "engine swap"? Another good trainer is the T-38C TALON (MILVIZ has it for other than DCS sim).
rkk01 Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 I voted yes... would be ace but I also love the idea of making the A4 and official module (without ditching all the community effort...) I don’t know the detailed variant history for the A4, but presumably some careful development could give a Vietnam era front line aircraft, Argentinian low- level strike aircraft for S Atlantic and an aggressor for NTTR
jojyrocks Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 If its a trainer that we want again... I would suggest a carrier capable T-45 Ghoshawk. It is well, pretty much a NAVAL Hawk. Extra fun with carrier landings and can even go shore based training. Better value for a trainer if developed. 3
Northstar98 Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 While I'd like the Hawk T.2, it's solely operated by the UK which is fairly notorious for classifying anything and everything, regardless of how much sense it makes. Personally, I'm more inclined to go T-45 Goshawk (preferably a T-45C), which is more appropriate for our current plane set (namely the Hornet). The only issue I have with the T-45C is the payload, it can only carry Hydra 70s and practice bombs (most likely BDU-33s), whereas the Hawk T.2 and T.1A, in addition to their trainer roles have more of a secondary light attack capability, which might be more preferable. sirrah Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 (edited) I don't think I'd buy it if it were available, just like I probably wouldn't purchase the Alpha Jet or the AMX and just like I didn't purchase the C101 and L-39. Definitely not my intension to step on anyone's toes here, but I find these (semi-)trainer aircraft not really interesting. The modules I purchased so far simultaneously give (or at least at the time gave) me the goosebumps and a warm feeling inside. I don't get that feeling with the above mentioned aircraft and much MUCH rather see any party invest in some more iconic (century series) aircraft. But hey, I hope for you guys it'll happen one day Edited April 27, 2021 by sirrah System specs: i7-8700K @stock speed - GTX 1080TI @ stock speed - AsRock Extreme4 Z370 - 32GB DDR4 @3GHz- 500GB SSD - 2TB nvme - 650W PSU HP Reverb G1 v2 - Saitek Pro pedals - TM Warthog HOTAS - TM F/A-18 Grip - TM Cougar HOTAS (NN-Dan mod) & (throttle standalone mod) - VIRPIL VPC Rotor TCS Plus with ALPHA-L grip - Pointctrl & aux banks <-- must have for VR users!! - Andre's SimShaker Jetpad - Fully adjustable DIY playseat - VA+VAICOM - Realsimulator FSSB-R3 ~ That nuke might not have been the best of ideas, Sir... the enemy is furious ~ GUMMBAH

Oh, definitely agreed there - it's about priorities, and I'd definitely put more iconic and more suitable aircraft above these, especially the F-4 Phantom II and F-104 (preferably G) Starfighter, as well as numerous others. There is a mod for the T-45C, and the Hawk T.1A is probably a touchy subject. The Hawk T.2 will probably have issues with regards to documentation, even if it's mostly just a trainer. 1 Modules I own: F-14A/B, F-4E, Mi-24P, AJS 37, AV-8B N/A, F-5E-3, MiG-21bis, F-16CM, F/A-18C, Supercarrier, Mi-8MTV2, UH-1H, Mirage 2000C, FC3, MiG-15bis, Ka-50, A-10C (+ A-10C II), P-47D, P-51D, C-101, Yak-52, WWII Assets, CA, NS430, Hawk. VTJS17_Fire Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 I loved the Hawk. Its clean cockpit, its overall design and the weapons, you could use for training. And I was sad to read, what VEAO did after all these years of development. My money is also gone, shit happens. Would love to see the T1 again in DCS as dual role trainer. Same - I'd go for a Hawk T.1A, it's not particularly high on the list, I'd love for one to be done properly this time around - being a UK counterpart to the L-39 and C-101. Baco Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 Maybe a T-2 Buckeye. this would make more sense now that we are going backwards to A-7 F-8, is appropriate for the Tomcat, and more...
