There are two terrific mods at present = CGTC and Better trees for Caucasus.

I know people may have different opinions but these two together are far, far better than the "vanilla" version (not even close).

If ED can bite the bullet and say "yes this is better than we provide we will change them" then all are winners!!(with the agreement of the talented modders).

Rather than get them spoiled by "updates"

I urge everyone to check them out.

There are varying opinions on which ground textures are the best, but most would argue any of them are better than stock. Those trees though... +100,.so much better, I could never go back.

As Buzzles said, the community can and does do that. It's not up to ED to just randomly grab other people's work and ''incorporate it''. That's called ''theft''. And incorporating it is more involved than just a text message saying ''yeah it's ok''. There's a legal framework for such things here in the real world.

That and the Mod Authors must provide proof they own the Rights for the IP to even move forward.

Many mods are simply items purchased and converted., which does not give the author the right to include said IP in a commercial product.

Hi, zhukov032186

" It's not up to ED to just randomly grab other people's work and ''incorporate it''. That's called ''theft''."

I did not get anywhere near saying this.

"And incorporating it is more involved than just a text message saying ''yeah it's ok''. There's a legal framework for such things here in the real world."

Absolutely agree with your second comment. thank you.

Hi Buzzles,

"The authors are completely free to contact ED and offer their work to them."

Thank you for the information. I,m informed.

Thanks for the recommendation bomber. I am willing to donate my portion of the work done on my mods. And I haven't looked into it closely but I believe ED has to purchase the distribution license of the textures I used. Which I think is around $200.

The bigger issue I believe is upkeep. It's not uncommon to see new version of DCS that breaks popular mods. If these mods are handed over to ED, that means they have to maintain it through updates. And most of the mods are not created per ED production process. Mostly because modders don't have access to everything but still, I am not sure if ED is willing to do that on such old map as Caucasus.
