Reduces the repetitive noise texture tiling similar to what the PG map had (thanks to Goa for testing)

I have "DCS Persian Gulf noise textures fix 05-01-20". There present Config\terrain\terrainoptions41.lua file.

And here (DCS Syria noise textures fix 24082020) present difference Config\terrain\terrainoptions41.lua file

 

How instal both of them (Persian Gulf terrain noise tiles fix + DCS Syria noise textures fix) with difference terrainoptions41.lua files ?

Hello!

The terrainoptions41.lua is the same in both... You just have to merge the two Terrain folders. I did it for you. :thumbup:

I compared two terrainoptions41.lua:

- First from "DCS Persian Gulf noise textures fix 05-01-20"

- Second from "DCS Syria noise textures fix 24082020"

There are difference ! (see screenshot)

 

In you "DCS Persian Gulf&Syria noise textures fix" & "DCS Syria noise textures fix 24082020" - terrainoptions41.lua the same...

I compared two terrainoptions41.lua:

There are difference ! (see screenshot)

 

In you "DCS Persian Gulf&Syria noise textures fix" & "DCS Syria noise textures fix 24082020" - terrainoptions41.lua the same...

 

I asked before about "DCS Persian Gulf noise textures fix 05-01-20" & "DCS Syria noise textures fix 24082020" terrainoptions41.lua ..... and there are difference !

 

I believe he might have been using an older version of terrainoptions41.lua, the raised values in the newer file are there to cope with greater levels of scenery objects so draw distances can be pushed higher by the user, for example as mentioned in this post

Ok, sorry! Just overflown the files and didnt spot the difference...

 

 

But, i packed the newer file in my merged rar! So all is right!

Which one terrainoptions41.lua will be better but for perfomance (not quality)? I fly VR only so prefer lighter file for my PC.

Mustang - just idea. Can You do the one mod All-in-one for NTTR, PG, Syria with the same terrainoptions41.lua and rest according map. Pls start own new topic with this mod (JSGME ready). It will be better for many to understand it all.

Which "terrainoptions41.lua" allows higher draw distances ?

 

The file in Syria mod and in my merged file on page 1 allows for the highest draw distance.

Hi, do the actual .lua mod for Syrian is also improving the quality of the textures (i d'ont speak about the repetition stripes, but about the textures sharpness and quality) as for PG ?

The .lua are not the same name and not the same folders. Not clear in fact for me :D Sorry :s

Because, the "terrainoptions41.lua" is touching all the maps (it's an unique file for all terrains)...no ?

Is perfectly working with Syrian as for others maps :) I just needed to don't touch anything :)

 

I again can not believe how this modification in this .lua file is not still implemented in DCS "officially". It multiply the quality of the texture, and ask almost no ressources...The original Syrian and PG map look "blurry" without this mod. Really !

How this mod will work with 2.7 (Syria and Persian Gulf) ?
I compared the original DCS 2.5 and 2.7 files (Syria) from the "terrainNoise_farColorTexture.zip" archive. Files: "splatlayer_0.tif.dds" "splatlayer_a.tif.dds" "splatlayer_b.tif.dds" "splatlayer_g.tif.dds" "splatlayer_r.tif.dds" These files are different.  And in your mod these same files are 2048x2048 in size, and in 2.7 - 1024x1024
