Kusch Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Updated airbases for BS, from Sim-mod (posted by GrandSurf). http://sim-mod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=365 And Yeniceri great work: http://sim-mod.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=351 http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa200/misikci/f24.jpg http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa200/misikci/ab2-1.jpg Give me "flying telephone pole" (SA-2)!
VMFA117_Poko Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Nice 3d models, great details, wonderfull concrete textures but aren't the objects too close to runway? I'm not happy with grass textures either to be honest. This is the great grass texture to start work with: http://free-textures.got3d.com/natural/free-grass-textures/images/free-grass-texture-024.jpg 1
Boberro Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 Finally bases are alive! Aren't so empty :D On the picture where Ka is landing\starting - where is rotor shadow (or lighty shaded terrain) of starting\landing Kamov rotor? Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
leafer Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Nice... Poko, that grass looks great and I hope we see it in BS. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
VMFA117_Poko Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Yeniceri! Wow! Wonderful CT. Is it built from real photos from caucasian airfields?
Smith Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 That is awesome! Only (like Poko said) the grass looks a bit rough, in my opinion a finer noise texture would be better. However, the airbase looks great with all these new models. :) Bye, Smith [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] i5-9600K @5ghz, 11GB ZOTAC GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Twin Fan, 32GB (2x 16384MB) Corsair Vengeance LPX schwarz DDR4-3000 DIMM, 1000GB WD Black SN750 Gaming M.2, HP Reverb HMD, TM Warthog Hotas Stick & Throttle, Realsimulator FSSB R3 Stickbase, TM TPR pedals

Yeniceri Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Yeniceri! Wow! Wonderful CT. Is it built from real photos from caucasian airfields? Guess so.. I cant tell to much from the photo if its caucasian or not... But its russian for sure.. 3 [sIGPIC]http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa200/misikci/41-imza-1.jpg[/sIGPIC] "To infinity...and beyond!.." SIM-MOD Modeler TURK!
Yeniceri Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 About the grass/ ground First of all the detail it needs for zero ground level real life grass look is not possible (for now). Remember guys, we are not skining an aircraft here, its the whole Crimea for gods sake! You need to consider the sight from at least 60-70 feet. And/or higher! If we start making detail in low level , when you gain altitude it will look horrible. There are things possible and not possible. 1 [sIGPIC]http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa200/misikci/41-imza-1.jpg[/sIGPIC] "To infinity...and beyond!.." SIM-MOD Modeler TURK!

VMFA117_Poko Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Our apetite grows. It's almost perfect but I will say what looks not good enought to me. Should I sweet You? Probably not. For me Your grass is too much contrasted. Looks like big holes dig in the ground where is dark shadow. You know what I mean? I gave You example of texture You could start work with. No need to have high resolution like shown there.
Yeniceri Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 correction.. Rocky is doing the ground textures.. not me... And as far as i see.. grass looks great :D [sIGPIC]http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa200/misikci/41-imza-1.jpg[/sIGPIC] "To infinity...and beyond!.." SIM-MOD Modeler TURK!
VMFA117_Poko Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 "You" - as You all involved in making this mod. Please, don't get me wrong. Grass is a way better than original... but could be even better. Also understand that Rocky could be tired of making it over and over again...
Yeniceri Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 "You" - as You all involved in making this mod. Sorry ..bad english :) Please, don't get me wrong. Grass is a way better than original Noooo.. Criticism is good if its constructive.. And i think you are being constructive;) but could be even better. I must agree to that.. It can always be better.. But I understand that Rocky could be tired of making it... Hell No!.. First..These are not the final works images. Can be better or not, i cant say that since i am not the maker. But i know there are limitations... (like altitude, playability, realism, etc.) for this kind of work.. Its really easy to put some high res grass images there and wrap it up.. But unfortunately its not working that way.. Anyway.. what ever we do, from ground zero, the grass will not look as real as from medium altitude. rockwelder Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 I could do a realistic grass texture that would look outstanding a few feet off the ground, but it has to work from many aspects, since it is applied over mountains, rivers - everything. The reason for the current one is that the absolute most difficult thing with this noise map is making it perfectly seamless and symmetrical, why? because as you see in games like ARMA, once you are a few hundred feet off the ground, you get repetitive tiles that are very noticing....Any way, it not as simple as you say believe me I know. You have to find Medium effect that transitions all altitudes. Try to improve on the current noise texture - you will learn very quickly that it is not so easy.
VMFA117_Poko Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 I don't see the need of putting higher resolution. It's just matter of contrast. Look, grass is little transparent. Light when coming throught has green colour. Shadows won't be so dark too often. Do You know what I mean?... Man, I am pain in the arse ;) I know. P.S. Forgive me bad english
rockwelder Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Actually, I know exactly what your mean - That aspect is being tweaked already. 1
VMFA117_Poko Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Ah ;) Could You pm me with a quick texturing guide? I am pro graphic designer even with a title of M.o.A. actually, so maybe I could help?

Flanker15 Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Considering you have to turn the building render distance right down for FC in airbases even on a high end comp. I'm guessing we won't be seeing any of these scenes in BS with a playable framerate. Ohh and they do look quite nice.
