SunDevilPilot Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 (edited) Happens with a few models but really bad in the A10CII. Flying at night with the cockpit flood light turned on makes a huge amount of large black square / overlay flicker. Turning down the flood lights until they are completely off solves the issue, but leaves you sitting in the dark. I fly in VR using an HP G2 but the flicker can be seen on the monitor also. 3090 graphics card. Edited January 24, 2021 by SunDevilPilot
Foka Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 Leaves you in the dark? What about all other inside illumination of instruments?
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted January 25, 2021 ED Team Posted January 25, 2021 Hi, Seems ok in my G2, can you do me a short track replay so I can see the same circumstance, and attach your dcs log so I can check your settings thanks Forum rules - DCS Crashing? FoxTwo Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 Make sure you have Advanced Super Sample filtering disabled in SteamVR if you have MSAA enabled in DCS. They are not compatible. 1

SunDevilPilot Posted January 31, 2021 Author Posted January 31, 2021 Strangely.... I had shadows turned off and moved them to high and it solved the issue... I also had the DCS MSAA and Steam VR Advanced Super Sampling turned on at the same time so I changed that after fixing the issues with the shadows setting. Sorta strange but at least there was a fix. Thanks for the help guys. On 1/24/2021 at 7:19 AM, Foka said: Leaves you in the dark? What about all other inside illumination of instruments? Only issue with just the instrument lighting is you can see what the switches are for, just not the actual switch position. Sorta need some degree of flood lighting to get the whole picture.
SunDevilPilot Posted January 31, 2021 Author Posted January 31, 2021 Spoke too soon, problem still persists. Seems to be the right eye only.. Will work on a track file
jaylw314 Posted February 1, 2021 Posted February 1, 2021 You don't have frustrum culling turned on in your autoexec.cfg, do you? Floodlit objects are not rendered in the right eye (IIRC)
SunDevilPilot Posted February 20, 2021 Author Posted February 20, 2021 I changed the MSAA Mask size and that, at least for the last flight, got rid of the issue. I went from MSAA Mask size 40 to MSAA mask size 60 in the VR Options.
SunDevilPilot Posted March 18, 2021 Author Posted March 18, 2021 Flicker is back. Not sure what changed as the issue was gone for quite some time. Only happens in the right eye and when my head is at certain angles. Very annoying. Turning off the cockpit flood illumination solves the issue. Maybe Vulkan will permanently solve this issue in the future.
ohyeah2389 Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 (edited) This occurs in some other modules as well, like the JF-17: It seems it's a global DCS lighting engine bug, not specific to one module. ED Team BIGNEWY Posted March 18, 2021 ED Team Posted March 18, 2021 I am not able to reproduce this on my machine. We do have a different black flicker issue reported internally, maybe it is related, we will have to wait and see if any potential fix helps this issue. thank you Forum rules - DCS Crashing?
