JEFX Posted August 8, 2008 Author Posted August 8, 2008 the touch-buddy site has a lot of FAQ and help on setting up the tbvp with tb, but i will say this. Thanks ggg but when I tried it I already did look on the tbuddy site and I thought I had done it right but no luck... What is the specific thread? or post about it (most recent, since there seems to have been a couple of versions?) the next time i set it up from scratch i will document it step by step. for my sake as much as anyone elses :) that would be great indeed! What Samsung monitor models do you use, are those monitors of same type?! Vekkinho, my new monitors are Samsung 943BX 19 inches, 1000:1 5ms, DVI LCD black (x3) with a LX triple display lift stand from Ergotron. ACUTech Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 T.E.C.-Leader, that gives you something to look forward! Life is great, isnt it. I believe we were born at a great moment of simulation happiness! JEFX Roger that! But by the time I turn 50, we'll be playing total virtual reality I guess as I'm (still) in my early 30's :) Might get TH2G much sooner then anticipated actually ! JEFX Posted August 9, 2008 Author Posted August 9, 2008 Hey T.E.C! Just noticed : you live in Québec or Montréal? French or english? Nice to see a Quebecois here! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] In DCS I fly jets with thousands of pounds of thrust... In real life I fly a humble Cessna Hawx XP II with 210 HP :D
Vekkinho Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Thanks JEFX, I assume you burnt a lot of cash for setup like that! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
JEFX Posted August 9, 2008 Author Posted August 9, 2008 Well Vekk. knowing all the parts it is easy to calculate. The answer is YES but hell, you get to be 50 only once... I work like crazy with huge responsabilities and my favorite well-deserved pressure-valve is taking off with my beloved Frog in a crosswind and fly over the amazingly detailed FC environment. Now the best thing that a set-up like that brings is the feeling of immersion, of being there, because all the details become so realistically big! Anyways, I guess where one puts his money is a question of priorities... A few (...) years ago I certainly could not have afforded it, but this was a good year for me. I hope nobody thinks here that I posted this setup to showoff... The reason I did it was firstly to share, and also to inform those who, like me a few months ago looking at ggg's original post on the topic, might consider moving gradually towards such a set-up. Digital Flat screens are getting cheaper every day (and there are hundreds of models of various quality with new widescreen 19 inches for less than 200$) and the TH2Go thingy itself is not so so expensive (around 300$). For me the biggest expense was the graphics card (and PSU) to drive it, but I can see that many people here have much newer comps than me with ample graphic power to drive such a setup. Then it is just a question of buying the 3 screens and the matrox digital splitter. One doesnt even have to buy a support (that is a bit overpriced) because the 3 monitors can stand on their own original stands. For someone with a good comp and a recent graphics card I would say that a TH2Go setup is around 1000$. Matrox just released a few days ago its new firmware that allows resolution with 3x1440x900 widescreen ! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] In DCS I fly jets with thousands of pounds of thrust... JEFX Posted August 18, 2008 Author Posted August 18, 2008 Thanks for the good words ggg. After all, you are right : I got fascinated by the setup because of your original post. Before seeing it, I didnt even know it was possible! By the way, would you mind taking the time to point out for me the exact place or post where I can find the way to set-up TB with Virtual Pannel (networked)? I never succeded to make it work (maybe I didnt add the right config line, or I dont have the good version or profile, or maybe I didnt do things in the proper order?). I would appreciate very much (You can do it in a separate post if you dont want to change the subject too much... ) thanks in advance [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] In DCS I fly jets with thousands of pounds of thrust... hitman Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Think after eyehumping this thread, I might go out and buy another 2 monitors for this setup. I really like this stuff. And I might do that instead of upgrading my video cards.
Kuky Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 I have one question... can some of you that have TH2G and for example 3x22" monitors try if this works... tilting all 3 monitors vertically then instead of setting LockOn resolution to (3x1680)x1050 to have (3x1050)x1680? I am thinking if this works (if your monitor can tild vertically) there would be much less loss of top/bottom of the game screen and yet you still get very large display, and for the video cards it's same number of pixels to rended... so... anyone able to test this out if it works? JEFX Posted August 29, 2008 Author Posted August 29, 2008 ''And I might do that instead of upgrading my video cards'' Hitman, I think your setup is strong enough, you dont need to upgrade your vidcard to to TH2GO. I had to because I was on one nvidia 7859X2 before, but with your SLI 9600 your fine. I think you will LOVE it! 'I have one question... can some of you that have TH2G and for example 3x22" monitors try if this works... tilting all 3 monitors vertically then instead of setting LockOn resolution to (3x1680)x1050 to have (3x1050)x1680? I think ggg could answer that one better since he played around with several combinations of resolutions. Matrox are improving their software gradually. Recently they introduced new resolutions for 3X widescreen. Maybe in the near future, they will support those kind of resolution proportions you are thinking of... You may want to write directly to their cust. support, they answer very quickly. For sure, you have there a very interesting idea, because I would say that this is THE only little minus of TH2Go setup, is the vertical axis being so limited. You end up playing around with your Tir in the vertical a lot. But in normal flying conditions, the wider X axis view is by far preferable and more like reality. G3 Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 (edited) good thinking Kuky, coincidently i was experimenting with similar setups myself yesterday. only 1 screen but rotated 90' and then 2 stacked vertically. see here under: alternate widescreen configurations. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=31750 i think 3x widescreens rotated 90' each would be awesome with SoftTH good to hear from Urze and also good to hear that it does work. just like th2go but with more vertical view. being able to see above the canopy, hud and instruments, all the way down to the stick, sweet. 3 cheap 20" or bigger widescreens is not that expensive these days. looking forward to see the pics of that 6 screen setup, (blocked). edit: Urze now i see that 6 screen setup, thats simply amazing, well done. Hannibal, This IS the main difficulty with such a setup, even with TH2Go. The game is not optimized for such resolutions, therefore we look at the game with the 'nose in the windshield' and we need to zoom out a lot. With the zoom settings that I described in my thread 'how to setup TH2GO for LOFC' http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=31499 I can look down (with Tir or not, and YES I can see the stick and lower protions of the dash. I dont know how to post screens because those screenies are so big and wide...sorry. JEFX [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] In DCS I fly jets with thousands of pounds of thrust... I was reading about SoftTH just today - I've only got two monitors (21" CRT, plus 22" LCD Widescreen), so I don't think it's worth my time, but if only I had a few more, I'd copy your setup in a flash - very impressed by the overall look of it - especially with one screen dedicated to gauges in the centre. Nice effort and thanks for sharing.

Highwayman-Ed Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Hello Everyone, Does TH2G support 3 monitors that are 2560 x 1600 each? Thank you, Monnie I've recently asked Matrox support a similar question. I believe the answer is that as long as the monitors can scale down to the maximum TH2G resolution of 1680x1050 or further, you should be ok, but I have seen some people reporting issues with monitors over 30" in size not working at all...
