Do you plan to make one concerning the FLIR usage?

yes, I’m learning and practicing its use while I update my existing missions, today I will share a link for the bombing mission and then I will update the rocket training and air-ground gunnery missions, afterwards I will be working solely on the flir one.

Hi,

Here is a link to the bombing training mission, for those who wish to try it:

https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ai6cuX3YQI26ic5cZFuJ4cNnPaMjuw?e=MMjNhf

Please, if you find a bug within, let me know and I will do my best to fix it before releasing the final version. Now, I will go onto the rocket training, hopefully it will not take long 🙂

Note: the mission requires the 476th vfg target objects mod, you can download it here:

Thank you @Luiz Renault, you are doing a really good job ! This airplane is very nice to handle overall. 🤗
Just some odd behavior when it comes to yaw (either on the ground or inflight), but that might be a limitation of the actual FM...

I find your lack of FPS disturbing...

I have experienced it only on the ground, when steering at less than about 3 knots.

Yes, it's a SFM bug that affects other Mod aircrafts as well, like for example the Gripen.

As promised, I have the rocket training mission updated for v5.2 of the A-29B aircraft Mod, basically I added radio support to communicate with ATC, and added a section on how to Jettison Stores using as example the empty rocket pods, the mission looks like this:

I'm still debugging a few details and then will share a link for those who want to try this mission .. it is not only a training mission, but its accuracy reports make it useful also as a practice to get proficient with the rockets.

Next, I will update the air-ground gunnery training, hopefully it will be ready this week, and then will move onto the FLIR  🙂

Edit: I debugged some details that the full version of the mission (the one that includes a take-off and landing) had, that version of the mission looks like this:

Added walkthrough of the mission's long version.

Hi all,

As promised, here is the link for the Rocket Training mission:

https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ai6cuX3YQI26idxkTaDJOecxpaDrKQ?e=zw9u3T

I will now update the A/G Gunnery mission and this will complete the set for now, which are all the missions that I had already done for v1.8 of the Mod, updated for v5.2  I will then upload it to User Files as a set, so that it can have a proper training menu, like this.

Training.jpg

PD: I have not forgotten about a FLIR training mission, with laser guided bombs, but that one will have to be edited from scratch, as my prior v1.8 didn't had FLIR. I will edit the mission and then add it to the set at a later date  👍

Hi,

I have finally released these training missions as a single file, you can grab it here:

https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3329565/

I will now remove the download links to the separate missions 🙂

Best regards,

Eduardo

Perfect timing it seems .. I uploaded the file yesterday night, and today DCS gets a brand new update that seems to break the A-29B 😢

My DCS crashes hard when running any A-29B mission, other aircrafts work as normal.

On the DCS log, I get this error:

ERROR   NGMODEL (23156): Can't load lod //models/a-29b-collision.edm of model a-29b-collision. Reason: Wrong version of model file.

followed by

ERROR   APP (Main): Error: Unit [A-29B]: Corrupt damage model.

and then the crash:

This error happens both on the ST and MT versions of DCS. Hopefully @Luiz Renault will give it a look and see what can be done to solve this. Is anyone else having this prblem with the A-29B, or is it just me?

Heh! I just downloaded the 5.2 version of the A-29 too.

I did see this note on the GITHUB, so a new version might be out soon, or maybe he means once a STABLE version is released.

I am also getting a hard crash whenever I try to fly the A-29. Luckily, I managed to complete one round of your most recent tutorials before I updated today. Excellent work on the tutorials as usual.

Since the last DCS update it crashes again, nothing new so far. My question is: are the developers of this fine piece of art, absolutely worth  to be taken into the crowd of all displayed aircrafts in this sim, in touch with the origin DCS team at all? Just to prevent this "hunting the solution". If YES: why does it happen? If NO: why don't you do it. And to DCS: of course not every idea can be brought through, but in this case the development has gone so far, it should be worth to be at least playable.

Most likely not, ED (the makers of DCS) do not care much for the community-created Mods.

Not sure I understand what you mean.

ED is concerned only about their product, when they do an update of DCS they test it only against the official modules, having them in addition test to confirm that the update does not affect community created Mods is a bit too much to ask.

At this point, the only one that understands the inner working of this aircraft Mod is its author, so it is he the only one that can fix it to make it compatible with the new version of DCS. We just have to have patience and wait for him to do so.

I love this wee aircraft, but I'm seriously fed up hacking around trying to get it to work every time DCS Updates.  I appreciate its not a DCS issue and its entirely up to the developer to get it working again but there has to be something wrong with the cockpit in this mod, it has always worked fine as an AI Mod so logic suggests its a cockpit issue.  Sadly I dont have the expertise to fix it, I wish I did.

Back to waiting again, last time it was eon's before a fix was issued.  (I might have exaggerated the eon's bit  😋 - it was a while though !!)

Yes, its a sad thing, as I was really enjoying this A-29 ... I was on the verge of editing a proper training mission for its Flir Pod and LGB's .. 😞

Well, guess I will have to return to the Mirage F1 for a while .. I want to graduate from the F1CE to its EE version  👍

Best regards

There is a new update. I added a download link for the dll only. It's the only component required to update between DCS updates.

To solve this, ED would have to send me their new dlls prior to releasing an update and add A-29B to the DCS update scheme, or add me as a 3rd party dev and distribute A-29B freely with DCS.🤣

Thank you so much for such quick solution 🙏, will download and test it tonight. Best regards.

Edit: Just tested, can confirm that it works fine once again 🙂

LOL I could not find the single DLL download (finally did!) so I just downloaded the entire hotfix version. Working OK.

I am seeing a strange thing in VR in the tutorials where the little boxes that are used to highlight HUD elements are doubled (seem to be rendered in each eye) and separated so they don't show over the actual element they are supposed to be showing.  Worked OK on other parts of the cockpit, just not the HUD.

Between the new MT patch and my tweaking with OPENXR, and all the other VR variables, I am not calling this a bug just yet... but I wondered if anyone else had seen it

The Trigger action for highlighting HUD elements is different from the one used on the switches, seems to me like a DCS bug. As a workaround I could use a third action, the one I use to highlight instrument dials, but it would be hard for me to test it since my VR unit is pretty old and I'm not using it anymore. I will see what I can do to solve this, thanks for the report. 👍

Appreciate your willingness to work on this, but let me do some more testing and wait to hear from others before you go down a rabbit hole of more work for what MIGHT be MY problem.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum.

I really like this plane, despite being Brazilian and living close to a military base, I see the A-29 a lot both in the skies and in the hangars.

I'm having crashes when trying to drop bombs, the DCS hangs and then closes, is anyone else having this problem?? I'm using version 0.5.2b_hotfix_1

Does anyone have any good mission training on the A-29

Good flights everyone!
