AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

Second the Apache, in fact I thought it was already on the "list" after the warthog??!? Like the A version where they could make a realistic sim without giving away classified info...~~

Agreed. 2 player online compatible or 1 player and AI with airborne seat switching possible. Plus lots more.

I think DCS should work on some fairly modern fighter aircraft next and leave the heli's alone for a while. The A10c needs an escort fighter !!!

DCS Kiowa would be great. But if a combat sim comes to market with the outerra engine, I will have to drop the DCS series. That environment is just amazing.

Apache Gunship or Whatever It Is Called These Days

There are several good USA Calvary helicopters as candidates. The Apache. There is one with a radar or optical gear on top of its rotors to lurk just a hair above a ridge-line. DCS:Warthog uses a similar one in its AI missions.

Scranton, PA had a really great airshow before the 1st Iraq war. These helicopter guys wore black Western cowboy hats with the Calvary's crossed swords as a lapel on the front of the hat. Cool dudes.

Or

Add air rescue for the pilot and get Jolly Greens as search and rescue would be fun.

The 'Nam era USA Intruder would be great for jamming radars before a big strike.

I saw it was still flying active duty to an air show about 1990.

Of course that means you guys need a CV, with steam catapults :smilewink:

The EA-6 is still in operation today in the USN as a EW platform. Carries a crew of four, and is sometimes equipped with an AGM-88 HARMs for SAM suppression.

AH-1W SuperCobra. The W-version was introduced in 1986 (Ka-50, operational testing 1985-86, introduced 1995) and is still in service. Hopefully, the avionics package and weapon systems would be available for ED to study. The AH-1 platform has been in service for a looong time so there should be plenty of consultans out there. -And it has (operational) air-to-air capabilities...

or

AH-64A, although to keep it "true" AH-64A we'll have to accept outdated avionics.

Try the other way around.

AH-64A, although to keep it "true" AH-64A, the avionics suite may be outdated in comparison to Ka-50.
