Reflected Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 (edited) ’Zemke’s Wolfpack’, the 56th Fighter Group was one of the most famous fighting units of the USAAF in World War II. Flying the P-47 Thunderbolt throughout their time stationed in England, the Group had more ace pilots and destroyed more enemy aircraft in air combat than any other. A large archive of detailed combat reports written by the pilots is available online, and Reflected Simulations endeavored to recreate these events in DCS World exactly the way they happened. Strap in to your ’Jug’ and re-live some of the most epic air battles of the ETO in the Spring of 1944. Video by Dominik Keller SHOP NOW Wolfpack is my most historically accurate WWII campaign to date. The main difference between real life events and the campaign is that missions are usually much shorter. Halesworth and Boxted are not on the Channel map, nor are most of the target locations. The rest is all real, based on combat reports and books, I invented nothing. Whatever happened in real life happens in the missions, nothing more, nothing less. Those who want quick action may be disappointed. Those who define fun as shooting other aircraft may get bored. Those who want to get as many kills as possible will be dead. Those, however, who approach it with an open mind, and are willing to invest the time and energy to fly it like they would have in real life are in for a really educational experience, an unprecedented peek into the life of a young fighter pilot of the 8th Air Force. You will learn all the lessons those folks learned the hard way back then. You'll learn never to leave your leader, never to wander off alone chasing an enemy. You'll learn formation flying, proper engine management. You'll learn to fear and respect flak, and you'll never want to end up low and slow - and alone. You'll learn to appreciate landing after a long escort without a single kill, but alive. Looking forward to hearing your feedback and experience Edited April 14, 2021 by Reflected 7 Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord

Sydy Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 Hi Reflected, It was an instantaneous buying for me. I love the P-47. I already flew the first mission and it was awesome. I will make a movie series out of it with some voice overs to narrate what I was doing. The FPS was astonishing good even with larger formation and clouds in Ultra. My computer is average for todays standards and I only have a 2080 besides an average cpu (7700k). Congrats and I hope to post my first Wolfpack campaign movie later today or tomorrow. All the best, Sydy 1
Reflected Posted April 15, 2021 Author Posted April 15, 2021 Hey Sydy, glad to hear that, especially about the performance. Did you select the small bomber formation at the start? Looking forward to your videos. Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord

Looking forward to your videos. Hi Reflected, That's a negative. The only thing I did was to deactivate the Wake Turbulence. Other than that I loved the performance and it was much better than any campaign I flew before. I know 2.7 is helping. The clouds effects are just amazing... I will do the voice over today and upload the video. I already finished editing it. Congrats! Sydy 1
Vicitus80 Posted April 22, 2021 Posted April 22, 2021 When will it be released on STEAM? A long awaited Campaign for my P47 + Channel map would be an instant buy.

You'll learn to appreciate landing after a long escort without a single kill, but alive. You aren't kidding. I have only flown the first mission, but man ... After nearly two hours of struggling to catch up and get into position, staying in formation (AI sucks at making direction changes ), constantly adjusting throttle, boost, rpm, and trim, checking every direction for bad guys, friendlies, and just admiring the beauty of the innumerable bombers flying below our huge (for DCS standards) escort, and finally anxiously eyeing my fuel gauge as we crossed back over the white cliffs, I was mentally exhausted, my muscles were clenched and tense, and I desperately needed to hit the head. It was awesome! What a fantastic atmosphere and experience. The sight of the bomber formation flying below us against the tableau of the Channel map is jaw dropping. For anyone, like me, who is trying to learn engine and flight management of the Thunderbolt, after flying this first mission you will have increased your knowledge and ability immensely. Thanks for the perfect introduction to what I can only assume will be a stellar campaign. (Also, I had zero performance issues at 1440p without needing to reduce bomber numbers.) Reflected Posted April 23, 2021 Author Posted April 23, 2021 @wowbagger I'm very happy to hear that, that was my very purpose, I'm happy to hear I achieved it That mental exhaustion and clenched muscles give you way more immersion than an aerial victory, and if you do get a 109, it feels that much sweeter. Enjoy the rest of the campaign, and looking forward to hearing more about your experience. Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
P999 Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 Just purchased and launched “mission” 1. What a great introduction to the campaign. I’m still relatively new to DCS but haven’t seen this type of introduction before in other WW2 campaigns. Absolutely brilliant. Really looking forward to rest of campaign now. I desperately need to upgrade my p47 skills - I love it but sooo different to the spitfire. Reading other comments here it looks like I’m in for some fun. Cheers
Reflected Posted April 23, 2021 Author Posted April 23, 2021 (edited) @P999 Good luck! My advice is to make sure you're familiar with operating the P-47, you won't have the time to figure stuff out up there (engine and fuel management, engine start process ,etc...) Vicitus80 Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 To be honest i don´t know, why the Dev didn´t answered my question. Maybe we arn´t relevant enough..
wowbagger Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 I don't think the campaign creators have any control or knowledge over when these things get released on standalone, much less on Steam. 1 CPU:5600X | GPU:RTX2080 | RAM:32GB | Disk:860EVOm.2

Oh, so painfully true. I played mission 3 twice, first time I followed those principles, stuck to my lead, landed back home and then ... I stupidly clicked "Exit to Desktop" . Progress lost. Blast it. Second time, more familiar with the mission, full of this overconfidence that kills young pilots, I broke off my lead to chase a couple of 109s. Quickly found myself with a couple of 109s in my pocket (yay ! Paint those flags on my plane, chief) but ... but ... followed by half an angry Luftwaffe. Low and slow and alone. And after a few seconds of desperate jinking, I was in a slow parachute descent towards the Channel. "Four, ejecting !" It does feel good to mostly just fly formation (keeping up in the climb takes a bit of practice and no fear of living close to the red lines !) and try to survive ! It's also good to not be the lead for once. Great job ! (As usual with your campaigns ) 1
Reflected Posted September 8, 2021 Author Posted September 8, 2021 Thanks @BuzzLine, I'm glad to hear this kind of feedback. It means I achieved my goals with this campaign 1 Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
MADLOU1 Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 I'm thinking about getting this campaign. How many missions are air to ground? Thanks!

Thanks! 2 are specifically a2g but there are ground targets in all missions that you can find and strafe on your way home if you have ammo left. I did not come up with the mission types, these are actual missions flown by the 56th in the Spring of 1944 1 Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
