Rugg

Rugg, My man super job on scenery. About time we had more than just summer. Although you had permission for some textures, you my man outdid yourself. Leaves a lot of questions in my mind but they will stay there. Congrats many times over!!!!

From Ruggbut:

Q & A for the terrain mod:

Q How will this affect my framerates?

A If you've run SIMMOD's ReLoaded (summer terrain) it will affect fps the same. All of the terrain files are the same size as the originals. I've upped the size of the trees, which explains why they look better.

Q Why does it show a yellow box when I install with ModMan?

A Yellow boxes mean that there are shared files in use. It's normal, don't worry. The mod is installed.

Q Why isn't it available on LockOnFiles?

A It will be soon, Thomas is working on it.

Q Do I have to install ReLoaded to use this mod?

A No, but I recommend that you do. Additionally, you can install Reloaded or this mod in any order you like, they don't conflict with each other.

Q What's next on your list of things to mod for Flaming Cliffs?

A I've got all the structures files extracted and I'm going to start work on them.

You should get it. For those who need answers, you can always do the following:

Manually install Sim-Mods Summer Terrain

Install new Other Season Textures via ModMan, or manually. They use the same configuration in the .lua script. Or you can take the chance and install all of them via modman and test yourself and make sure they work. Im about 98% sure it would work that way.

very nice work for sure.... One question though. What kinda hit does running that have on FPS?

First and foremost, due you run a scenery mod? If not you will have a slight hit on performance but not enough to worry about. If you have a scenery mod loaded, you may not see any increase in FPS. All depends on your CPU mostly and a little on the graphics card. Ram is nice to have as well More than 2GB. Lockon always was a killer if you did not have the CPU power and Ram, GPU runs 3rd, although a really nice graphics card will show you more eye candy in the quality side of Graphics textures. Hope this gives you an idea.Cheers.

well I don't got SIMMOD's Reloaded...so my question still stands.

You can always simply try and you'll find out if you get big FPS hit or not... if yes simply uninstall... and if not you got yourself much nicer looking terrain in all seasons.

QFT. Just try it out and see how it works for you! :)

The frame rate hit should be close to nil. The way I see it is that modern video cards eat textures alive, so with the rather non-existent fancy texture effects in LOMAC, a decent video card could probably handle textures even higher resolution that this.

This work deserves a separate post just to comment how awesome it is. I'm glad someone realizes we don't all have a hard-on for flying this sim with summer textures all the time. :D Excellent work ruggbutt! :thumbup: :clap::yay:

Anyone with an idea of how Land LOD distances for day and night should be set with this mod?!!

I hate seeing a LOD separator when flying 10K+ :music_whistling:

Thanks!

I use these parameters and it looks great:

LandLodDistances

{

LandDay

{

L01 = 30000;

L12 = 50000;

}

LandNight

{

L01 = 30000;

L12 = 50000;

(if thats what you mean)

Mustang what file do i look in to change that, could you point the way, thanks mate.

That would be your graphics config file. OR you can download one of those LOMAC settings tweakers at Lockonfiles and do it with that.
