Thumping/booming sound

im sure i heard something about this but cant find it now, in the rio seat theres a constant thumping/booming sound?

There was a post about it previously ... I still hear it in the front seat, still irritating.

yea, ATM its whats stopping me from buying it, you cant sit in the rear with that constantly going on, if its a bug been on it for ages, still has a delay in F3 sound too on fly past

Internal sound improvement is listed on HB's Public Roadmap so this and other issues should be fixed.

hmm well yea i would hope so, but, the external fly by is temperamental, works most of the time, but mainly i have found its within 1 min or so of take off, the booming in co pilot seat is just unbearable, its pretty overpowering.

i didt get a track of it as i needed to go out quick, ill try later if needed, but seems im not the only one that hears it

Do you guys use butt kicker? Had the same and found out the software was sending to the wrong Soundcard.

Can you post a short video? I just checked and I dont hear any constant thumping sound in the RIO seat.

I'd say no one else is a pretty good estimate, I've never heard of the issue before. Probably something with your exact setup that triggers it.

not at all there was a few who heard this at first as stated i lost that post.

ok in a bit of a hurry, so very quick tests, as you can hear/see here it happens nearly every time, But on these 3 occasions it did stop, before i had it continuous for around a minute

Video, as in recorded off your equipment. A Track file is going to sound the same to them as any other flying they're doing on their equipment.

ok, doesn't seem a lot of interest, but i found exactly where it is, and found a 100% way to replicate, work every time, its when rpm just gets to 10 on the rpm dial. as you here the little cick before AB kicks in, then it will boom, in pilot pit

Oh, that's the AB Zone 1 kicking in and out.

 

Front seat fix: set your afterburner detents right.

 

Rear seat fix : tell Ice to go slower

nope its not, its a constant thumping that can go on for a minute or more

If the throttle is held precisely at the afterburner threshold (ie. a mal-placed fullmil/AF detent) the AF will keep trying to fire up, but can't get a proper burn. So you get thumps of the afterburner struggling to light and stay lit. This will continue to happen if the throttle remains in that position.

 

Try closing your throttle a bit for full mil power setting, and moving the detent if you have one, to see if the sound disappears. Also, check when you go full afterburn, does the sound disappear?

Iceman often does it to me and it's quite annoying

Isn't that the same I wrote 2 posts up and you rejected it. Given @wowbagger explaining it better, but if you keep rejecting stuff, you won't come far.

I was testing Iceman after latest update so I was able to experience his throttle management too

You can avoid the thumbing sound by telling Iceman to keep the speed below 400 KTS while circling around the bombing/target area.

That will depend on the gross weight, stores and altitude.
