Reflected Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 April 1989. The USS Valley Forge cruiser had an accident on the Black Sea just off the coast of the Soviet Union, and the USS Theodore Roosevelt is being sent there to support the rescue operation with VF-84 on board. Jaws, Jester, Ghost, Pyro, Caveman, Grip, Elvis and Glory, all hot shot F-14A Tomcat fighter jocks of the ’Jolly Rogers’ are itching to see some action, but they might get more than they bargained for. Join them in fighting MIGs, intercepting Bears, defending the fleet, escorting Alpha strikes and much more in this relaxed, story-driven campaign that is an entertaining mix of realism and 1980s style fiction. Kick the tires, light the fires and make them ’Fear the Bones!’ Thank you for your interest in my newest F-14A campaign, 'Fear the Bones!'. While 'Zone 5' offers hardcore realism and the ultimate challenge to those who have mastered the Tomcat, this one is a lot more lighthearted and focuses on fun. It's meant to recreate the atmosphere of those cheesy 80s action movies, and it's heavily story driven. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as my other campaigns, and I'm looking forward to your feedback. 5 Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
wowbagger Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 Haha! Love the trailer music and the video game cover. As soon as I can find my skinny tie and leg warmers ... and finish watching Magnum PI (today's Thursday after all)... I will be all over this! 3 no sig
AH_Solid_Snake Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 Are all the briefing and supplemental materials a little nod to Fleet Defender? They look very familiar.

AH_Solid_Snake Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 Really enjoying the vibes so far, but think Im missing a few tricks on mission 1. Firstly suggesting this will take 30 mins is cheeky! I opted to head off for the tanker and first couldnt figure out how to get the light for my own refuelling probe to come on. Then having got within 0.3 nm of the tanker and thinking its the 80s so I shouldn't be on NVGs or irradiating the tanker crew so its TACAN + look for the lights? The tanker (or any AI flight) are cruising around with no lights on. Eventually I transitioned to NVGs but didn't hook up before running out of gas....cute GAME OVER screen
splash Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 Hi, Could you tell me if this campaign is easier than previous one? Thanks.
Vino Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 Mission 1: I take off and start circling around the ship. Nothing happens. I burn my fuel, and finally land. What should I do, what is my task?

A lot. 16 minutes ago, Vino said: Mission 1: I take off and start circling around the ship. Nothing happens. I burn my fuel, and finally land. What should I do, what is my task? There are instruction messages that tell you, but check the kneeboard page to visualize the Case III departure. Basically take off, then at 7 miles turn right, and keep a distance of 10 NM from the ship in a wide right turn. Then turn left and depart on the specified radial, but I included a helper to let you know when. You'll also find a detailed description of the procedure in the docs folder. tsgucci Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 Thanks for the campaign, just bought it I really liked the Zone5 too. Question: Do you think I can change the aircraft to B version? I fly a lot with the "B" and do not want to mix-up the two. Also, can we fly this in multiplayer? WIth human RIO or with human wingman? Thanks a lot!

Charly_Owl Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 (edited) Just bought the campaign, will try it out tonight. I really love these kind of old school campaigns, and knowing Reflected is behind it I rest assured that the quality is there. Why are you stuck? Which part can't you complete? There are helper messages all along the way. Let me know what gives you a headache and I can perhaps offer further help. BTW there's a skip mission option in the F10 radio menu. Edited June 21, 2021 by Reflected 1 Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
Vino Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 (edited) Thanks reflected - again. My problem is, that I’m circling around the ship at given altitude and range, but nothing happens… Edited June 21, 2021 by Vino
Reflected Posted June 21, 2021 Author Posted June 21, 2021 (edited) After you took off, did you fly straight following BRC, until you got the 'arcing' message? If so, did you keep a distance of 10 NM from the ship in a gentle right turn? (+/- 1 NM). (use TACAN). The ship is the center of this circle that you're flying along. If so, you'll hear a helper message when you reach a heading of approx 340. It will tell you to turn left 90 degrees. I would say send me a track but those are probably bugged. But if you could record a video I could see what you're doing. This is from the official SC manual: Edited June 21, 2021 by Reflected Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
drberto Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 (edited) Is there anyway we could skip missions?I can't fly at night and i can't do air refueling. So i I'm just a lazy casual player,i want to take off and shot some enemies.I cannot pass the first mission and it is annoying,so i would like to skip it. Edit:the only way i found,is to copy the missions to Saved games/missions and play them as separate missions Edited June 21, 2021 by drberto

Edit:the only way i found,is to copy the missions to Saved games/missions and play them as separate missions As I said 3 posts above, there is a 'skip mission' option under the F10 menu Also, you were given the option to either refuel or keep holding right after the helper told you that it's your call, and either choices can lead to success or failure, so why did you choose to go for the tanker? I'm really bad at night AAR so I always choose to keep holding Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
ClydeBigBird Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Have only played through the first 3 missions so far, but I have to say the writing and voice acting in this campaign is awesome and really sets a new bar for how entertaining those elements of a campaign can be. Never really realized how much more entertaining campaigns could be if the writers didn't restrict themselves to "PG" dialog!

It's more entertaining this way, but it sacrifices realism. and vice versa: full realism sacrifices entertainment. At the end of the day it's up to your personal preference. I wanted to position this particular campaign on the entertainment end of the scale. Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord

kseremak Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 I love how the campaing is in '80s when the Soviet Union is still a thing and the overall '80s atmosphere. 1 1
BoFrost Posted June 26, 2021 Posted June 26, 2021 First of all, I love the Campaign ! Amazing and fun. But one short question. When I try to land on the carrier, after I got mission success, and I will crash the plane at landing (you never knows), will it fail the mission ? Luckily I got the bird on the deck until now, but what will happen ?
