Not if you want 1680x1050! :)

so your saying that TH2G does not support 3x widescreen @ 16:10 or 16:9 wide aspect on DCS Black Shark?

I know that TH2G supports 5040x1050...but i am unsure about this hardware with DCS Black Shark on 3x widescreens...

as much as i wanted to by 4:3 aspect monitors...i ended up getting widescreens because it seem like every where you go, it is widescreen monitors!

also, as much as the 15 monitor thing is kind of cool..but it is at the same time kind of uncool...that bezel managment is horrible on that pic..

I have everything working with a 2 monitor setup with skval and abris on 1 and main on the other.

Bad thing is that I cannot disable SLI.

Any solutions?

Actually, with the new firmware update for the digital edition, I think it may just be possible with dual-link DVI (@57Hz), but I'd check before you buy just to make sure.

I agree that widescreens are better that lots of 15". That stack of 15" monitors looks ugly imho.

Hmmm, maybe the Matrox TripleHead2Go DE will be on my xmas list too ;)

I've tried to scan most of the thread for the answer but I haven't found anything as yet...

My main screen is 1360x768 42" flat panel, my secondary monitor is a 19" 1280x1024. Has anyone been able to get it working without it stretching one of the displays so they operate independently of each other?

Ok.. i finally got this working to my satisfaction on my setup. I wont say it was easy.. so i'm posting this to help others with a similar setup.

WinXP.... Left & main monitor 22" @ 1680 x 1050, Right & 2nd monitor 19" @ 1280 x 1024

I'm not using XP 'span' as my height resolutions are different.. and this is of course in 'windowed' mode.

This setup allows you to still have full functionality in the multiplayer gui. It looks all stretched, but all buttons are reachable. You can join, leave server etc. (You can't get to the setup section but you should only need to do this once, so do it with original options file in place.)

Has anyone figured out how to alter the multiplayer GUI so larger resolutions can be used?

Do you have the same problems I have mentioned in another post here.

Can you see the frame rate counter in the upper left?

Can you take a screenshot without the sim crashing?

Does your main screen stretch into the 2nd monitor?

Also, why not put the Shkval and ABRIS side by side? It looks better and maintains the aspect ratios. I'm not a big fan of the squished ABRIS.

No,.. can't see it, but this does not bother me. I can use Fraps if i need to check the fps.

No, crashes every time, but i can also use Fraps for this :)

Not sure what you mean... you can see my screens in the image i posted.

Because if i make my resolution any wider than this, i am unable to access many of the buttons in the GUI in multiplayer. I did have it filling my 2nd screen.. but had to ctrl-alt-del and kill dcs.exe as it was the only way to exit multiplayer. The setup above is a compromise.. i get the Abris & Skhval and i can use everything in multiplayer. As i mainly play multiplayer.

I have another version with just a full sized abris.. as i agree the 'squished' one is not as good, but again its a comprise.

Compromise is what this set up is all about. All that matters is it works for you. Seeing the frame rate counter is not a big deal to me. Just wondered where the rest of my screen was. I took this screenshot with FRAPS and this shows somethng interesting.

MadTommy,

it looks really great....

thanks in advance for the script you placed here...i will use it

-when the B.S. English version- become available...

Now a question to make....

Can you do this to 3 seperate monitors?

I mean

1st monitor for the Main screen

2nd monitor for the Shkval

3rd monitor for the ABRIS

Also i want to ask....

is there any option that you can see from the main screen only the HUD ?

cause i plan to place all the switches and instruments at a home-made cockpit

thanks again

i have 2 19 inch monitors and i have tried this but the only way i can NOT get it to work in multiplayer because it just blue screens and when it does work and i DO get into multiplayer my anti-ailiasing settings are not forced right even though they are set in the video card settings........ so when i dissable one monitor and enable it again to fix it because usualy it works then i get a blue screen.... but it works in single player..... any ideas? Yes i believe there is a key stroke to just see the HUD.

Finally I made to work ABRIS and SHKVAL in vertical position on my second monitor and now I want to fill the remained empty spaces over and under the SHKVAL picture. Is that possible to assign to the monitor some other instruments? I.e. the mechanical clock or VVI? And if it is possible, than can anyone tell me where can I find the requested lua file to edit?

I have done some basic tests on multi-monitor setttings. I managed to get it done, but with "windowed mode" the fps are noticeably lower, then with full screen. Is this supposed to be like that?

If so, I wonder how so many people seem to use windowed mode without having any negative impacts? I use ati 4870 gpu.

I haven't had any real negative impacts as far as FPS goes. It may be a little slower but nothing I noticed. But, then I do have a pretty heavy system. What are the rest of your system specs.

Sorry for probably a dumb question but i am a bit confused after reading the 17 pages of post.

I am currently running a quad core system and have a 260GTX which is hooked up to my main 22inch LCD and I am then running a 8600GT with 2 x 15 inch touch screen mointors.

I am running on XP and only have the one sysyem (i.e no second pc).

My question is, should i run this game and also use the two touch screens or do i need to create a Touch Buddy profile for the two touch screens?

Are the ABRIS etc usable if connected to the touch screen?

Sorry but i am so cofused as this game has much more controls than IL2 which i am use to playing

Thanks heaps

You can use three monitors the same time, but neither ABRIS and SHKVAL will not operate by using touch screens. AFAIK only the whole cockpit is suitable for touchscreens because the ABRIS and SHKVAL displayed on other monitors are only plain views.

>>>>>>Secondary Monitors -- Touch screen or Standard LCD?

Posted

I've been messing around with trying to get my second monitor to play nice....not been having much luck!

Okay, I have, as my main monitor a 22" with max resolution of 1680x1050.

My secondary monitor which I want to show the SHKVAL and ARBIS on is a 15" with max res of 1366x768.

I have tried editing the options.lua to show 3200x1200 in game, this is the max res that CCC reports when I stretch horizontally

The following being the camera.lua I made from posts earlier in this thread

Description = 'Shkval on the left monitor, camera on the right'

Viewports =

{

Center =

{

x = 0;

y = 0;

width = 1680;

height = 1050;

viewDx = 0;

viewDy = 0;

aspect = screen.aspect / 2;

}

}

Shkval =

{

x = 1680;

y = 0;

width = 1366;

height = 400;

}

ABRIS =

{

x = 1680;

y = 400;

width = 1366;

height = 624;

}

This is from the options.lua

["height"] = 1050,

["resolution"] = "3200x1200",

["civTraffic"] = 1,

["width"] = 1680,

I have a mixture of problems the main one being that I can only seem to get the main cockpit showing on both monitors - not what I'm seeing in other posts.

I would appreciate any/all advice as to where I'm going wrong.

Thanks

Nice, I also got it working with the ABRIS+Shkval on the 2nd screen in fullscreen, using WinXP, an ATI HD4870 and two screens @1280x1024 each. My resolution is set to 2560x1024 (ingame), so I didn't have to do the trick with the additional "virtual" 3rd screen. FPS drop is minimal.

For those who don't know how to enable horizontal span mode for ATI cards: start CCC in advanced mode and open the Displays Manager tab. If you currently have your Desktop extended (not stretched) to the 2nd screen (i.e. the taskbar is only visible on your main screen), right click on the 2nd screen and disable it, then right click on the disabled screen and select "Stretch main horizontally onto monitor". This is ATI's equivalent for nVidias "horizontal span mode". After that your horizontal resolution should have doubled and the taskbar should be stretched over both screens.

Additionally, I have found a workaround for the stretched single player GUI. Since the GUI and game engine are now separated entities, I thought there must be a switch somewhere which allows you to set a different resolution for the GUI than for the Sim and also start the GUI in window mode, while the Sim itself runs in fullscreen, and indeed there is. Backup the ...\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\BlackShark\BlackShark.lua file and open it with Notepad++. Scroll down to line 195 and insert these lines (with your own values):

main_w = 1024;

main_h = 768;

fullscreen = false;

After that it should look like this:

...

if fullscreen then

main_w = screen_w;

main_h = screen_h;

end;

main_w = 1024;

main_h = 768;

fullscreen = false;

Gui.SetIcon(themesPath .. 'main/images/BS-icon-2_32.bmp')

...

The values specify the width and height of the GUI window, so just replace the values with your preferred settings (in order to see the full window choose values that are somewhat smaller than the resolution of your preferred working screen). Also set fullscreen to false so that you can drag the GUI to that screen. Inserting these lines will override the settings from the options screen, but only for the GUI, the resoultion and full screen setting as they are displayed in the options will still be valid for the game engine.

Unfortunately this works only for the single player GUI, I haven't found the switch for the multiplayer GUI yet.

OK i think i get what you mean. Maybe i can set one mointor as a touh screen for controls etc and have the other display the ABRIS and SHKVAL.

I decided to try it in WinXP x32 also. Got it working and now can see the FPS counter in the upper left. But there are certainly tradeoffs in this setup also. And, of course the multi core affinity procedure does not work in WinXP x32, although I am getting 40 FPS in Instant Action. I did see some micro stutters also. I will spend some more time in WIn XP to see if they persist.

I realize every thread can't, but, too bad this couldn't become a sticky. With all the new threads I found it on the 3rd page.
