hannibal Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 i hope the next module of dcs that is featuring next gen planes like the su-37, f22 will feature a flight model that allows the manipulation of vectored thrust... http://nz.youtube.com/watch?v=_za3KfMFKLk&feature=related so far it looks like tom clancy's hawx is the only ame so far that as it... http://nz.youtube.com/watch?v=LnKipLEF8MQ (2:42) shows backflips dev's...any comments on vectored thrust for future DCS modules? find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179
GGTharos Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 (edited) No DCS module is planned to feature next gen aircraft (... that we have announced) Edited November 5, 2008 by GGTharos [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
hannibal Posted November 5, 2008 Author Posted November 5, 2008 ok... will there any modules that feature vectored thrust? dosent have to be a next gen plane.. maybe the su30? i tried to search the list of future planned dcs mdules... find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179
GGTharos Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 (edited) Not at this time; if documentation about such aircraft becomes available to ED, then possibly yes. The list currently includes Ka-50, AH-64, Mi-24, F-16, MiG-29, F-15 and Su-27 - and of course, the A-10. airea Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 These kind of threads are nothing more then wishfull thinking and fantasies... ED announced many times that they are planning to release those platforms mentioned by GGTharos in the previous thread. I dont know if our life time will be enough to see all those mentioned stuff released but I believe that any kind of next gen aircraft cannot be done by ED in the short and medium run... In the long-run, we are all dead, afterall...

DTWD Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Hawx is nothing more than the end of an era for Clancy games. We actually, as a community, should hate it and love it in equal measures. On one hand it gets new people into flight sims it could increase the people purchasing proper sims. But on the other it's such a bastardisation of our beloved hobby that it deserves to be "living on a farm all happy and running in the fields and chasing rabits" like our pet dogs that suddenly disapeared when we were young. It would be nice to get some idea of how ED plans on spending there time over the next few years, what takes priority new models full simmed up or the new engine, or are they both going to be developed along side each other? If the new engine really is a whole new engine does it mean ED have to re-engineer the Ka-50 sim in the new engine? How long will that take? Will the KA-50 drop straight into the new engine or are we going to be getting two versions? One like we have now and then another version in the new engine? I am assuming any new aircraft being added as flyable into the DCS will be modular and so thus can be easily added/removed just like the MS Flight Sim series? If so are we to be removing our BS install and adding a new one? Is it a free upgrade or do we pay again? Regards Paul Regards [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Boberro Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 F-22, Su-37 ect in DCS modules? Those planes are new, many years information about them will be secret. Up today even Russian old parts are still secret so... :) I would like to see MiG-27, Su-22, F-4 ect similar planes, they are classic of war ;) Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
Xjikz Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 The list currently includes Ka-50, AH-64, Mi-24, F-16, MiG-29, F-15 and Su-27 - and of course, the A-10. The Mig-29 OVT has vectored thrust... maybe in some years it will be possible to have it, when this plane will be considered as old and the technical data will be available for ED  Proud to be a [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] :joystick::pilotfly::book:
deviletk Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Armed Assault 2 will have a JSF. Not a flight sim ofcourse, but more than Hawx game will have em. ;) second video (scroll down) shows take off: http://www.armaholic.com/index.php?m=single&id=3790 Regards Alex "Snuffer" D. GGTharos Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 That would be like asking to model an X-31 ;) The MiG-29 OVT is a technical demonstrator, not a service aircraft. Right now only data on MiG-29A is available. Zorrin Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 The MiG-29 OVT is a technical demonstrator, not a service aircraft. Right now only data on MiG-29A is available. But also an awesome demonstrator! You could argue that its a prototype for the MiG-35? As that incorporates the thrust vectoring but with a major avionics overhaul... Meh Horses for Courses... Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
GGTharos Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 I could argue that the MiG-35 isn't currently in service either, and chance getting documentation on it is slim to none. Again, ED will model aircraft they can get documentation on :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

GGTharos Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 No, it would need a lot more than just a clickable cockpit. Also, it is not a serial production aircraft so I don't think it will happen. Maybe a Su-25A/K or MAYBE even SM. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
HungaroJET Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 No DCS module is planned to feature next gen aircraft (... that we have announced) I don't want a "next gen" vectored thrust aircraft in DCS :smilewink: I'd like to see an "old" vectored thrust machine as flyable: THE HARRIER GR7:thumbup: Atop the midnight tarmac, a metal beast awaits. empeck Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 What about third party addons? Let's say someone would like to make a plane with vectored thrust, is DCS engine flexible enough to let this happen?
GGTharos Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 I believe that this is what the 3rd party SDK is for. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Szelma Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 When ED realase tools to bild new flyable models ?
GGTharos Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Tools will be released when the International version of Black Shark is released, IIRC. Check the 3rd party tools sticky. The harrier's never gotten the proper flight sim treatment before.
arneh Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 I'm with you 100% on that one Hungaro. The harrier's never gotten the proper flight sim treatment before. I would certainly support a Harrier from ED myself too. But just to let you know, there is already one fairly hardcore Harrier sim in the works, Jet Thunder. So maybe you can get your Harrier fix from it until ED does one :)
DTWD Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Ooooh harriers... Regards Paul Regards [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
