nullBombs be spinning

Good news if they’re spinning. We might get the upkeeps working 🙂

So good to see it in our skies 🙂

Ai version is out everyone! Pick it up here: https://tallboy-sims.com/

Feel free to give us bug reports here or on discord.

HI,

Bugs I have so far.

Lancaster will not TAXY after landing, shuts down on the runways in Normandy2

Cannot use some airfields the B17 can use even though she has a few feet shorter wingspan

Note...is it possible to get her to engage attacking enemy fighters using passive defence at a greater range...0.4/ 0.5 nm is WAY to late.

Regards

Interested in the loadout limitations that might apply to the Lancaster within DCS…

My understanding is that ED control weapons / ordnance available within DCS???

Clearly the Lancaster justifies some bigger bombs than the 500lbs bombs the Allied WW2 aircraft are currently limited to😟. I’m specifically thinking of the 4,000lbs Cookie and 12,000lbs Tallboy.

There are real world Op Crossbow Lancaster / Tallboy targets on the Channel map, and with South Atlantic making a good “Norway”, we could also use a Tallboy or two in the fjords…

(I’d happily forgo the RL Lanc mods that were applied to get the Tallboy airborne 😉)

I have been playing around with the Lancs various bombs....The Big bombs most definately need serious updates from  ED .

Whats the story about the roundels? I remeber that I put on some post war roundels on top of the wings but I believe that was fixed for all of the liveries, unless your on about something else?

They are the modern 2:1 ratio, and incorrect for WW2.

WW2 B type roundel : 60px-RAF_Type_B_Roundel.svg.png

Modern 2:1 roundel : 60px-RAF_Lowvis_Army_roundel.svg.png

Relinking to the post I made about them here.

I knew it was there somewhere.

That’s what I meant about the roundels, cheers Megalax.

Plotted some Lancs on the Channel Map the other day. If ‘starting from ramp’ I could only get them planted at Manston. I’ve seen our Lanc take off and land from Biggin a few times and didn’t think it would be a bother. I could ‘take off from ground’ and had them taking off and landing ok from there.

Wish ED could make things easier for you tinkerers. Sorting the AI would be a bonus, forming up on anything especially in the turn gets a bit lively.

Still chuffed to be able to mess about with it. Well done team 🙂

Seen the Lanc land and take off at Biggin a couple of times when working at the airshow there 🙂

Should be home next week and then I can at last download the AI Lancaster 😄

Yes that is what should happen but it does not !

Just a few words from the Moderators would have been nice for the Lancaster Team.

But its just the same old Stone Cold Silence from Moderators for any user made New Mods.

Very bad form to just turn your backs and put your fingers in your ears .

" Wake up and smell the roses guys "

this is an exceptional effort and great for the future of WW2 and DCS !

I think you're overreacting "a tiny bit". Imagine all those other modders that will have hurt feelings when their mods doesn't get any attention. Never underestimate feelings! You've been on the Internets long enough.
I'm not joking, I'm pretty sure ED pay close attention to this thread. There's a reason some other mods have made their way into the core, and to my knowledge those threads never got even a single positive official acknowledgement from ED.
Pretty sure you've seen the videos where the A-4E was featured. And then ED stated it would not be part of the core, but a nod to the team.
Wouldn't surprise me at all if we see the Lanc in videos in the future.
Personally, if I were ED I would contact YOU to have your trains added to the core. You're doing a fantastic job! Maybe when the train issues in the core get fixed in the future, who knows? I would hire you as the DCS train master if it was up to me!

Cheers!

I was on the opposite side of the runway to the public, got a nice wave from a Harrier pilot as he taxied past, at other times we had a stand in the public area.

Got to see the Swordfish up close at Yeovil and then a few weeks later at Biggin from beside the taxiway, it was a hard job but someone has to do it 😉

Sounds great. They’ve built a nice little Museum on that side, (Chapel side). I popped into the Heritage Hanger then had a look around the Museum earlier this year. Peter Monk has a load of lovelies there, hangar tours are something like £50, just under £3k for half an hour in a Spit if you’re flush. Oh, I just remembered, I’ve still got a 45 minute flight in a Tiger Moth to do 🙂.

My Great-Uncle was a fitter on Stringbags. He was on the Convoys from ‘42. I got a bit of dust in my eye when I saw one fly after he’d gone. Love to see it doing the rounds. I keep meaning to have a good mooch about in Yeovil. I stopped at the gates last year, summers evening so it was closed. Love a bit of the 303, I’ll have to sort it out.

Off to hit all the buttons to get in here 😛

Yeah, how do we get in it, it looks great. I tried a few F keys, maybe I need to change my keyboard setup?

Seriously good - well done boys.  👍👍👍👍👍

Roundels you know about - the only issue I had was trying to get it off a too short runway with a Tallboy slung under it, it crashed the mission.  Otherwise good on long runways.

I can move the camera view and position but I’m buggered if I can get in it.

I’ve hit every key on the keyboard. Any ideas welcome, how do I get in the bleedin thing? 🤪

It's AI only for now. Internal views presumably aren't enabled.

Press F4 then move mouse to rotate view and carefully press keyboard / to zoom out or carefully press keyboard * to zoom in.

Position so when you zoom in camera goes through the side of plane then carefully move mouse to look around.

Also works with Trains if you want to be in the Drivers position in the Cab or ride in a coach looking out of the window.

The main thing is move mouse and zoom carefully and dont press all the keyboard keys you could start WW3 doin that !
