Spankinvicar Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 I know this will be a Noob question but I bought this module today and the Short inner flaps (nearest the fuselage) are always down, Even when I raise my flaps using both methods (hotas mapping and using the flaps lever in the cockpit). All through flight they are down and I cant raise them. I know it will be something im missing or doing wrong but can anyone advise me on how to raise them. Ive yet to fly this plane without horrible vibration at all times. Thanks for any help.
Spankinvicar Posted January 4, 2022 Author Posted January 4, 2022 (edited) Its possible mate, but they dont go up after take off either. The outer flaps work as normal. or what I would class as normal. Edited January 4, 2022 by Spankinvicar added text
razo+r Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 Do they work before takeoff and before you possibly exceeded max flaps speed?

Spankinvicar Posted January 4, 2022 Author Posted January 4, 2022 TBH. I think thats what its been. Ive just done a take off without flaps and they where fine right through the flight. so dont use flaps, even when heavy in this plane then.?
Callsign JoNay Posted January 4, 2022 Posted January 4, 2022 Are you using afterburner on take off? The Tomcat gets to flap overspeed velocity pretty quickly if you are, (which you're not supposed to in the B). Make sure the flaps are pulled up before 220-ish knots. 1
Spankinvicar Posted January 4, 2022 Author Posted January 4, 2022 No mate, Ive been taking off with Mil power, but thats definatly what its been, Ive just been too late bringing them up when Ive used them. Thanks for all the replies lads.

Thanks for all the replies lads. Yeah even tho its not historically accurate, I would recommend not using the flaps for carrier take offs as the cat will launch you almost at your flap jam speed as the thing has enough lift to take off fully loaded anyway.
Jayhawk1971 Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 (edited) I don't know what the heck you guys are doing, but I have had zero problems taking off with full flaps, both A and B, both land-based and from a carrier. There's ample time to raise the flaps before I reach 225 kias. In the A I use full burner taking off from a runway (unless I'm no external tanks, guns only), and I use mil power for the other takeoff conditions (A on the carrier, B everywhere). Edit: The only time I've ever had problems with jammed flaps was when the axis I had it bound to spiked with throttle movement (G940 problem, solved by opening the damn thing and removing a screw), causing the flaps to deploy partially, just enough to jam (interestingly, sometimes they jam asymmetrically, which is a nice touch by HB). WinOrLose Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 Try a maneuver flap take off from the field and problem solved - you need about 10knts more speed but they retract automatically.

draconus Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 Don't need to write your own aviation history. Flaps were designed and made for a reason. Use them properly to your advantage and safety. Use them wrong or don't use at all - it's where the troubles start. Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria

Southernbear Posted January 9, 2022 Posted January 9, 2022 speaking of flaps jamming...anyone had people RIO for them recently?....I've noticed a weird issue where if my RIO's PC were to crash...and they needed to join back in mid flight, the flaps deploy for some reason....first time caught me by surprise and we jammed them...the next time I was at 30k feet only doing like 400knts so when it happened I managed to prevent the damage...but yeah soon as the "X has occupied the RIO seat" messaged popped the flaps dropped. really easy work around and I've only had a RIO twice recently to confirm...but yeah interesting bug
