    • No, why bothering with heli's if there are real aircraft?

I am just very curious how much would still fly the helicopters if lets say f-16 and f-18s would hit DCS.

well i never seen a harrier with rotary wings... so i would count it as a fixed wing .... and believe me if you seen harrier wings rotating, there was definately somehting wrong...

(besides if you ask for my personal opinion on the harrier... i never liked it)

hmm i should have made more poll possibilities since now i am curious how much of those who would fly both, would fly the heli's just sometimes for fun and jets regularly or the different way around...

Or Helicopters offline but Jets online or something like that

Reason i am asking this,is what i seen in lock on before. I mean even if there were a-10's available on the server (almost) no one seemed to care for it in online multiplayer.

I am surpised by how much fun the KA is to fly - I do not like helicopters anywhere near as much as fast jets, but BS is a great sim and mastering all the systems is going to take months of practice. A real challenge!

Iґd love to combine Forces.

And when the first fixed wing AC`s arrive then it will be nice to do so.

The Helo`s can Recon and mark targets with their Laser and the A-10`s, Su25`s or whatever AC will drop their GBU`s --- for exapmle.

Such Missions would be really nice, I think.:)

So I made my x on "Yes, but i would fly the fixed wings also!".

But I will primary fly Helo`s. (Ah64A Apache)

I just love flight... this helo is rather easy to fly after about 15-20 hrs.... Fun bird, but fixed wing can be a fun too.... right???:pilotfly:

I'm definitely into fixed wings as well as rotarys, looking forward to the combination of both in later modules. How about a huge combined battle with KA-50s, Mig-29s against AH-64s and F-16s? *Dreaming*

Fixed wings are for sissies with an attitude problem. Real men fly choppers and hit the treetops with their bellys. :D

Just kidding...

Real men fly fast jets and hit tree tops with their bellies :D

I like AG, so how could I don't like helis ;]. But I will fly both.

As a fast jet fan, I am very surprised by how "natural" the helo flight feels! Specially the fact that you can instantly rotate on your axis is fantastic and gives the air to ground fight some interesting dimension. Compare that to the "manoevrability" of the Froggy! So, yes, even if my beloved jets are back into the game I will keep on flying many hours in the chopper!

I think these two poems pretty much sum up the types of people that would fly one or the other:

Fixed Wing junkies:

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth

And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth

Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things

You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung

High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there

I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung

My eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long delirious, burning blue,

I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace

Where never lark, or even eagle flew -

And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod

The high untresspassed sanctity of space,

Put out my hand and touched the face of God.

-J. G. Magee

Rotorheads:

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth

And hovered out of ground effect on semi-rigid blades;

Earthward I've auto'ed,

and met the rising brush

Of non-paved terrain - and done a thousand things

You would never care to -

skidded and drooped and flared

Low in the heat-soaked roar.

Confined there,

I've chased the earthbound traffic, and lost

The race to insignificant headwinds.

Forward, and a little up, in ground effect

I've topped the General's hedge with drooping turns

Where never Skyhawk, or even Phantom flew.

And, shaking and pulling collective, I've lumbered

The low trespassed halls of Victor airways,

Put out my hand, and touched a tree.

-Anonymous

(note: "Victor airways" are established air corridors, sort of like highways in the sky, that commercial air carriers follow.)

Very poetic :D

I'll be more direct.

Not a pound for Air to Ground - fast jets, and none of this belly scraping business because ....

Ah but don't forget GG..... The higher you are the harder you can fall..... And to quote Zorrin's sig:

There's da point: :) "I take choppers but i will fly fighters too"

The infantry's best friends are the Apache & the Hog (& the artillery:smilewink:)

The Hog's best friend is the F-16 especially with HARMs :smilewink:

Atop the midnight tarmac,

a metal beast awaits.

To be flown below the radar,

to bring the enemy his fate.

HAVE A BANDIT DAY !
