Hey to all, when I do normal alignment number in the right does not drop of 10 and I have a number such as 8,6/10 and not 8,6/6

Any idea?

It doesnt drop below 10 anymore i think. As long as you confirm the lat long and elev within the first 2 minutes of the norm alignment, you should be fine setting the knob to nav as soon as align blinks in your hud

Norm Align Status Code 6 (0.6 Times the Normal System CEP) is displayed following a full Enhanced Interrupted Alignment. To do an EIA:

you need to do a full NORM alignment (code 10 and flashing RDY/ALIGN),
set the INS knob to NAV,
taxi within 10 mins to a new heading at least 70 deg different
set the INS knob to NORM
allow the alignment to continue for at least 4 mins

Does this work in sim?

What difference does it actually make in sim to have a 6 alignment instead of a 10? I’m not sure I could notice any change, but then again I’m relatively new to the viper.

Hi.

For most of us, I think, 10 is more than enough for a perfect flight/combat.

I never do a NORM alignement, alwas STR one.

Same. Also, AFAIK in the sim there's no difference in precision between NORM and STR, so no advantage to wait the full 8 mins.

Wait, isn’t this required for employing JDAMs? I remember seeing somewhere that a tighter alignment is required if using weapons of that precision.

In it's current implementation in DCS there is no difference in accuracy between stored heading align and NORM afaik. IRL you can get a higher accuracy with NORM which obviously will be important for the employment of GPS weapons like JDAMs. So no, it's not a requirement. You will just get a higher accuracy with a finer alignment.

Oh okay, so in game it doesn’t matter. Hmm. Maybe that will change in the future.
