To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Line Marine Corps pilots flying six F-35Bs completed the first shipboard Operational Test period aboard the USS Wasp (LHD-1) from 18-29 May 2015. Marine Corps Deputy Commandant for Aviation Jon Davis called the testing “highly successful.” During the evaluation, ten pilots from Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 121 (VMFA-121) at MCAS Yuma, Arizona, and Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 501 (VMFAT-501) at MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina, flew 85.5 hours on 108 sorties. Three pilots qualified for night operations. An F135 engine module was flown out to the ship on an MV-22. Davis also noted the Thermion coatings applied to the deck of the Wasp to make it more resilient to engine exhaust during vertical landings and a deployable version of the Autonomic Logistics Information System, or ALIS, both worked well.

Over the past few months i've really come around on the F-35. I think it looks great despite what people say, and it will be a worthy sucessor to the F-16 (i think anyway, even though it's not exacly the same thing.. but w/e)

Though i do find it funny people have this need to constantly hate on the F-35. What do they think will happen? The US Gov't will read some youtube comments and suddenly decide to scrap the whole project? The F-35 is coming , it's gonna happen. I hope the haters will learn to deal with it.

But the whole F-35 situation kinda reminds me of one of the couch gags in the simpsons though xD

Apparently one of the dates in it is inaccurate too. The first BFM flight against any F-16s happened in April.

Single unnamed source that provided a 5 page report that is not linked or provided that goes against other testing data announcements. Yeah, let me tell you right there is the absolute king of journalistic integrity. You get used to this kind of crap cropping up from time to time with you follow the F-35 program.
it'll sell though. This kind of "information" is gold right now with all the F-35 hate.

Calling it "hate" is a way to dismiss what has been said without actually addressing it.

Probably has been linked before, but this Australian site is worth a look:

No it's not.

“Air Power Australia made several errors of fact and misrepresentations about F-35 capability. . . .their analysis is basically flawed through incorrect assumptions and lack of knowledge.”

Even if the article is true, saying the F-35 is an inferior fighter is a stretch. I like how it was suggested that the F-35 would need to watch out for anyone sneaking up on it when it's likely to do the sneaky. It all sounds a bit biased.

As for APA, I don't think it's much good as a source. The website basically boils down to best fighter = giant plane with 1000 missile and 105 mm cannon. If you're fighter isn't Flanker sized, doesn't carry 12 missiles, and has less than a 30 mm cannon, APA says it's useless.

Awaiting: DCS F-15C

True, it was the author who used the word "sneak." But, if authentic, it was the pilot who complained about being unable to see aft.

Straw man?

Anyway, if it's a bad source then I apologize for bringing it up.

No, an unnamed person providing an unexamined document filtered through someone with a long history of distorting and misrepresenting the F-35 program claims they couldn't see aft. There is no corroboration with other sources.

Ok, I see this isn't going anywhere useful. In a couple weeks I will have many opportunities to discuss the F-35 with people who are knowledgeable but without such an ax to grind. If I learn something interesting I will let you know. Bye bye.
