Gunfreak Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 So I did my first refuling, I got some 4000lb of fuel in me, and I lost contact, I pulled back, aborted the refueling, asked for refuling and got pre-contact affifrmed again. But whenever I even got close to the basket, I get the tanker yelling break away, break away, even tho I was at least as good and steady as the first time I actually connected. i7 13700k @5.2ghz, GTX 5090 OC, 128Gig ram 4800mhz DDR5, M2 drive.
Foka Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 It happens if you're too close to the tanker. Hercules (KC-135) tends to scream that to often. No such problems with MPRS and Viking,
rob10 Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 Should mean you're too close to the tanker, but ya, sometimes it's a little over sensitive (I find it happens less than it used to). Rarely a problem if you ignore it.
Dragon1-1 Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 In the Harrier, in particular, you will typically get that call on a perfectly good approach, since the probe is behind the cockpit and "too close" distance appears to be based on that. Just ignore the tanker guy, he's not helping like an AF boomer, so he should just shut up and fly straight.
norman99 Posted April 9, 2022 Posted April 9, 2022 Happens from time to time. On another note, if you disconnect early by accident, there’s no need to make any radio calls, just reconnect again. As long as the hose remains out, no additional actions are required. 1
zaelu Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Does anyone know where is the file for this annoying sound? Thank you! I think most of the audio files are encrypted at this point, so not sure there is an option for doing anything to/with it. While a long time ago it was a little over-zealous in firing that sound (i.e. when it really shouldn't have), I haven't heard it in a quite a while. Just practice a little more and it should go away on it's own (since you won't be triggering it). 1

Probably not so much if you are really really good and come smoothly. I am training now again for refueling and is startling every single time. I think if I would export the telemetry to some recording it can be seen every single time I almost lose control because of that silly sound byte. I try to imagine it actually means "You're looking good! Go ahead!" I try to imagine it actually means "You're looking good! Go ahead!" Not sure what plane that is (obviously not the Hornet) but I'm guessing it gives you that warning because left side probe is putting you dangerously close to the tail wing on the tanker. No idea if that's a bug or if that tanker is incompatible with that aircraft or if you need to only use the right basket with that combo (isn't possible to force that in DCS currently). 1
Dragon1-1 Posted January 12 Posted January 12 This is the Harrier, and I don't think they had any problems tanking from Hercs IRL. It's just that its probe is located unusually far back, and DCS doesn't adjust for that. The calls are correct-ish for the Hornet, but the Harrier is in a very different position while tanking. 2
MAXsenna Posted January 12 Posted January 12 As far as I remember, I've only gotten the warning with the Herc, and only with the Tomcat, (and the Skyhawk, where it's pretty much yelling all the time). To be honest I don't think I've ever tanked with the Hornet on other tankers than the Viking, where I've never gotten that call out in any airframe.
Nealius Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I believe this is a KC-130 issue. It's done that since it was introduced with the Harrier way back in.....2017 or 2016? IIRC it's a Razbam asset. 3
